Of course shaun of the dead is based on dawn of the dead and all of those zombie films and hot fuzz was the parody of cops have you ever thought of doing a funny parody for a british crime drama film like you could take a movie like lock stock and two barrels and make it into a humerous film.

    Hello Simon,
First, I just want to thank you for the wonderful shows have been in and I am so grateful that we in the US have been able to see them. I truly love Spaced. Brilliant show. Brilliant writing, editing, acting, direction - everyone in the cast is very talented. I hope you enjoyed working on that show. When ever I miss the characters in Spaced and want to "visit" I make myself a cup of tea and watch the show. I hope there is a follow up to the show.

I am curious about when and how you decided to be an actor? What shows, movies or actors inspired to be an actor and how inspires you today?

What is your favorite character you have played?

What character have you played that is the MOST like you in real life?

How did it feel or what did you think when you found out you got the role as Scotty in the upcoming Star Trek movie?

What are you favorite actors, movies, tv shows or comics?

I am curious about what you think of the United States and the people here. I am curious of what people in the UK think of us.

Are you and Nick Frost old friends? You both seem like you have been friends since childhood.

I look forward to seeing you in the upcoming movies and hope to see you in another movie or show with Jessica Hynes.

I wish you all the best,
    Pamela

    Simon,
Brilliant job casting you as Scotty in the upcoming Star Trek.
Ecstatic "Spaced" is now available to the US crowd.
Any chance of you, Edgar Wright and Nick Frost doing a send up of crime capers (ala Pulp Fiction, Snatch, Layer Cake, The Italian Job, Ocean's 11) ?

  35. Posted by Lilly Akseth in London:

I was wondering if Simon, Edgar and Nick will ever make and epic like "Shaun of the Dead" again. Hot Fuzz and the next rumoured installment of the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy was/is highly anticipated by those who worship S.O.T.D., but it was much more hollywood-ized and big blockbustered up than expected. I appreciate that S.O.T.D. gave them the opportunity to branch out to access bigger stars but the heart of S.O.T.D. lay in the fact that it was so UN-hollywood, like "Spaced" (a classic). Simon and gang are stupendous so can't wait for more from him and the rest!!!

  38. Posted by Sean Dilley in Minneapolis, MN:

Hi Simon. Thanks for taking our questions.

I watch "Shaun of the Dead" at least once a month, and it still makes me laugh out loud every time. One of my favorite scenes is the one in which Shaun and Ed are trying to decide which vinyl albums to chuck at the zombies in the back yard.

Only a devout Prince fan (like myself) would have the presence of mind to preserve "Sign 'o' the Times" in such a perilous moment while instantly sacrificing the Batman soundtrack.

I've long been curious who added that brilliant bit to the scene. Are you the discerning Prince fan that Shaun is?

Many thanks for all the hours of fun, and I look forward to your next projects!

    - Sean Dilley

I' m a gargantuan fan, but I won't write a novel about it. I've always wondered about entertainers who make the jump "across the pond" - is there a certain amount of resentment from your core fan base back home, and if so, does that bother you? Also, are you afraid your comedic wit might dull in the face of our often boring and mindless American pop culture?

( I'll bet you know that redheads were so special in the Mayan(?) culture that they were the ones sacrificed to the Gods!)

If you ever pass through Atlanta again - (I watched the documentary on the DVD of the US tour you guys did) please make sure it gets plenty of press - I did not know you were in town.

Hi, Simon. My second time to ask you something again.

What were the roles you had done onstage before you make you small screen debut on BBC, and which one is you most favourite?

Do you think you are prepared if someone offers you a role at West End or on Broadway right now, and will you think of musicals?

    Hi Simon,

If a spaceship landed outside right now, would you get in it and where would you ask it to take you -- it can take you anywhere you want.

  129. Posted by Carrie-Ann Despres in Montreal, Quebec:

Sorry, couldn't decide btwn these two questions so I'll ask them both:

We all know you're a Star Wars fan (at least of the originals). Who in the SW universe do you associate yourself/feel you have the most in common with and why?

If you could live in any fictional world, which would it be?

  130. Posted by Keefe Wagstaff in London:

    Hi Simon
I've been thinking of becoming a comedian, you are one of my influences to enter the comedy scene. But who were your comedy influences when you wanted to become a comedian?

  131. Posted by Dawn Carman in Canton, Ohio:

Let's say that you are given a lead role in what is sure to be a critically acclaimed movie. This role would also earn you an Oscar but there is an ethical dilemma involved.-- The director is known for being difficult and demanding and the day that you are due to film an extremely intimate scene with your co-star, the director decides he wants to go for 100% gritty realism and suggests that the two of you are actually intimate for real on camera. How would you handle this situation?

In an interview you said that you would like your ashes to be fired into space like Star Trek actor James Doohan, and you said "At my funeral anything will go dress-wise. Don't feel a need to wear black. And I'd have 'Tomorrow Never Knows' by the Beatles playing. It'll get everyone a bit psychedelic - waving their hands in the air." It sounds a bit 'Zen spirit' to me. How did you get this idea and why did you choose that song? I'm a big fan of yours, wish you LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!

In Hot Fuzz, co-star Nick Frost as Danny Butterman eventual plays out the scene from Point Break he loves so much. I thought this part was genius. As one of the writers, how did this idea come about?

You are so very funny! Can you tell me who inspired you as

I thought you and Nick Frost was great in Shaun of the dead and hate to hear, there wont be a sequel.

Would you consider making a sequel if you came across a really great script? If so, I believe I've come up with one that you would like.

    'Mazing!

Do you and Nick Frost plan on collaborating again (say yes, please) and, if so, what sort of genre will you be sending up this time?
