You’ve managed to spark the female mind to be insanely jealous of Bella Swan & Edward Cullen… did you ever imagine that it would take off like it has… that there would be crowds of girls literally swooning over your two fictional characters (me being of them ^_^ ) and that there would be people, everywhere, determining whether they were “Team Edward” or “Team Jacob”…. it’s amazing how you’ve sparked the minds of so many readers into WISHING/HOPING/DREAMING that this was their lives…. rather than this boring human one… You’re great! & I can’t wait to see what becomes of the movie & Midnight Sun!!!!!

If the Cullens can buy human blood (and therefore presumably could obtain animal blood from animals who are already being killed for human food), why do they hunt at all?

Why did you describe the pivotal moment of Bella’s change as a nonaction sequence, taking place only in her head as she lies stiff as Snow White, in a suspended state?

    1) Are you aware that your main character in the Twilight series are Mary/Gary-Sues? If so, was that intentional?

In Breaking Dawn, it seemed as if you purposefully avoided a fight scene at the end of the book. There was a big, tense build-up and then, no action. Were you simply afraid of killing off any of the “good” characters or had you planned that ending all along?

I have three main questions about Breaking Dawn. First of all, now that Rosalie has a niece, given to her by Bella, does she like Bella more, are they friends now? Secondly, will Bella and Edward go to Dartmouth in the future, perhaps when Renesmee is grown up? Finally, night time for vampires, does it consist of only hunting trips and sex?

  48. Posted by Ali Foster in Charlotte, NC:

First, I absolutely love how you concluded the series and I was bawling like a baby when Bella was able to finally show Edward her thoughts. I thought the imagery was amazing and I LOVE how Edward smells like honey, lilac and sun-flavored. I love the theme of finding your own place in this world and finding out that no matter how you may view yourself, you are someone special to both others, as well as yourself. I think if people really sit down and truly delve into the entire series, they will see how this was all a discovery of Bella trying to find where she fits in this world.

Am I just grasping at straws because I don’t want the series to end, because it seems that you have left several openings for possible stories in the future. (Actual werewolves, half-humans, Jasper being more central to the family picture….he was barely mentioned in Breaking Dawn, but that sentence in particular caught my eye, the Volturi seeking revenge against the Cullen/other families who now seem just as strong if not stronger). You’ve stated in the past that this is the last book from Bella’s perspective…we know about Midnight Sun…perhaps might there be other stories….from some of the other characters in the future…albeit distant future because of your other projects. Please, can you give us any hope that we can see more from our vampire friends in the future??? :)

When did Bella conceive Renesmee? Was it from her and Edward’s first time, or from the time after Bella’s sex dream?

  50. Posted by Anonymous in :

You must be aware girls and women alike idolize Bella, and I have to ask myself for what exactly. Twilight objectifies women in way that I cannot even begin to describe, relying on dated social stereotypes and extreme sexism to produce a series of novels. I’m aware these books are fantasy, but what kind of twisted fantasy is this for young girls and women?

Edward is your typical abusive boyfriend, often laughing cruelly at Bella, ignoring her opinion, and she just sits there and takes it! He leaves bruises on her body after Edward and Bella consummate their marriage, and you have Bella BEG for sex! Pathetic! Beg for sex from the man who left bruises on her body, who treats her awfully?

    Disgusting.

Why would you write novels that objectify women in such a way?

Ms. Meyer, I wonder if you noticed the similarity of Bella’s actions in the Volturi confrontation scene in Breaking Dawn to those of Harry Potter in his last standoff against Voldemort - both use an extraordinary magical power to protect a large group of the ones they love. Does one want to live in a society where everyone is good, kind, generous, and morally perfect in every way but one, that your free agency is taken away by an immortal being that controls your body and actions? Or live in a society where people are morally imperfect, but have free agency to become as good as the immortal beings? Will there be sequels to The Host to continue to challege and grow the mind of the adult customer base?

The Volturi will track all the vampires that were there to help the cullens, and kill them. You had stated that in your book. After there is no one left to help the cullens they will come after them again.
Demetri should of been killed and so should Jane.
I loved that it had a happy ending. But would you consider doing one more to get rid of the threat that would always be hanging over the Cullens. If Demetri had been killed it would of been harder for the Volturi track the other Vampires. Please write one more book.

Whatever happened to Edward’s crooked smile, to Bella reacting in the obsessive way that she has? That can’t have all just gone away with her becoming a vampire….

Would you consider doing an anthology (or two) of short stories or scenes to complement the series whether they be “filler” moments or pivotal peeks into their lives (before “Twilight” or post-”Breaking Dawn”) or even scenes you’d loved but had to cut for the final draft?

#2 - Do you ever view any of the fan art or read any of the fanfiction about your “Twilight” (or “Host”) universe (of which I am guilty of having written) and how do you feel knowing that people aren’t simply reading about your characters but reacting strongly enough to borrow these characters for their own creative way?

What advice do you have for other aspiring writers?

  115. Posted by Cindy Watson in St. Petersburg, Fl:

I LOVE this series, every single thing about it. Here’s my question even though you gave fans a happily ever after in a bow, You have to know that will not be enough for fans, not even Midnight Sun. So can you please tell us in the future that you will come back to the Cullens, PLEASE???

Sorry, got a second question: For each of your books, you have created a playlist of songs for many important scenes in the books. I listen to it and I can picture the book in my head, I LOVE it. Here’s the question, did you write the book before or during hearing a song or chose the song afterwards? I have been introduced to some great bands that way, so thanks!!!!

  116. Posted by Leanne Loy in St. Cloud:

I REALLY want to know about Renee. Does she ever get to meet her granddaughter? When will she ever get to see Bella again? Bella and her mother had a very special relationship, I thought even more so than her and Charlie, how could she not tell her that she is a grandmother?
2ndly, I know we will never hear from Bella again. Any other Twilight books that come out will be in someone else’s POV. But I am sincerely asking you to reconsider. There is still so much that could happen here. Maybe I’m just not ready to say goodbye to Edward and Bella, but I still see a lot of potential here. Bella was still a newborn at the end of BD, she still has so much more potential as she grows older.

  119. Posted by Tatiana Ferrin in Caracas-Venezuela:

    * We all know that an important part of those who read or they read the saga they’re young. Did you try to transmit some message with Twilight? I say it because you touched topics as the pregnancy, the abortion, the sexual relations, the marriage…

    * What was the most difficult thing to write the saga of Twilight?

    * Already you have said that from a beginning you thought about Nessie and towards where the history would go, but while you were writing Beacking Dawn the history gave some draft or changed something about what you had thought? Or the history remained like you thought it?

    * Why only do you think to write Twilight from Edward’s perspective? I’m sure that to many of the fans would like to be able to understand a bit more each of the actions or Edward’s decisions. I know that New Moon isn’t the happiest book, but also we want to suffer with him, if it’s possible to say that way jajaja

    Hello!

There has been passing mention of prequals, and you’ve mentioned you would like to explore other characters. Who would those be? Do you intend to write more of the series? Although we know how things urn out for Bella and Edward, is there a chance that we could possibly see the lives of the other Cullen/Hales?? Perhaps a book for each story?

    Thank you!

Are you going to go on further with Breaking Dawn to tell what happens with Jacob and Nessie or is this the end? And is this going to be the end to the story or will the Volturi find another way to fight the Cullins? (P.S. You Got me hooked on reading!)

  123. Posted by Breanne Bartok in El Dorado Hills:

What was going through Edward’s mind when Bella realized she was pregnant? And how many houses have Emmet and Rosalie destroyed?? I love your work; it made my mo and I so much closer and a lot of my friends, too. But still, because I care so much about what has become my life–the Twilight series, and now a little bit the Host–I’d like to know. What about Leah? It seemed like for a little while, she and Jacob were getting close, and now he seems to be right back to not even really caring about her any more. So…. since apparently it’s been hypothesized that the reason for imprinting is that the werewolves could pass on the genes to make them stronger, can Renesmee have children, or will she be frozen forever in six or so years? Does that mean they’ll have to have kids beforehand?
It was a little hard to take in, too, that Eclipse, as I’ve seen others say, is so much about sacrifice, how Bella’s willing to give up absolutely everything to spend a life with Edward–including kids, family–well, biological family–Jacob, everything. and then in BD she just seems to get it all so easily–marriage, sex, a baby, Edward, Jacob, her whole family. Why go through all that pain when in the end, there’s not even any violence to make her really feel like she’s going to lose that much, truly? All those chapters of stress were in vain. I get your publishers said less violence, but still?

Stephenie, also DO NOT LISTEN TO WHAT ANYONE TELLS YOU ABOUT ANYTHING BAD ABOUT BREAKING DAWN. IT WAS TOTAL PERFECTION. This is so bella, but i was having very odd dreams near the book release that edward and bella were going to have kids? When i told my friends that bella and edward needed to have a kid, they thought i was psycho. BUT HAH I WAS RIGHT! Very very weird. I thought they could have done it still scientifically and do what some lady did on oprah a few years ago; she got the sperm of her dead husband and had twins. but i guess the natural way was just fine for b and e…..

  145. Posted by Katie Talley in Carlisle, PA:

I’m sorry to waste your time with writing a comment instead of a statement. But I just want to let you know that I am hurt myself by the way some people are “seeing” this book. I’m thirteen and I’ve read more graphic novels. But how people are saying that “Edward is an abuse boyfriend!” and “Bella sits back while Edward laughs at her.” is beyond me!
Edward showed that he would die for Bella. And how is he abusive? He can’t help hold her hand too tight and maybe leaving a subtle bruise! He’s a vampire for god’s sake! And Bella is perfectly capable of getting her opion out. Who’s idea was it to go to Pheniox in Twilight to hide? Um, Bella? And Edward laughs at Bella just like your boyfriend/husband/friend would if you fell down randomly!
I feel that this book is not sterotypical but a fantasy! Pure, great, and a fun series for your enjoyment. Sometime I feel that people take this book too seriously. The writing is done to make you feel that it’s real. But I’m sorry it’s not. I sure wish it was, but it’s a story created by a gifted author.
Stephenie Meyer has stated that first she wrote this for herself. Not for young girls, not for middle aged women, but for herself. Respect that. We are all lucky she decided to write this book, and even let us read it. Thank you Stephenie Meyer for writing these books. Bella has helped me be able to speak my mind, including helping me wirte this. I hope that the criticizers out there read this and appreciate my opinion, in which i wouldn’t have been able to write, without the courage that was given to me by the characters.

Can we hopefully expected to see some more books in the future that will include Edward and Bella but have another person telling them. I can only hope that there will be more stories about the Cullens, the Swans, Jacob etc. Please continue the story. i know you probably have this asked over a 1000 times a day but can you please please do more than just midnight sun, i mean i am a huge huge fan and that first chapter is one of my favorites out of all of your books and extras, i know you dont want to do another book from his view but anything like the extra you did with him and rose and the phone convo would be great…we need to know how he felt when he first saw her when he thought she was dead, and when she said yes to marrying him, or when they actually did get married or when they were on the island we get her view so well but we have no clue whats going on in his head besides i am a monster …. even if you never do any of those the one that you have to have to do is the best scene in the series which i believe you said was your favorite scene also, and thats the last two pages of breaking dawn, we need to know whats in his head when he finally hears her which he has wanted for years now, ohh man i get excited just thinking about it and i am 25 married and have a child haha

I’ve read some reviews about Breaking Dawn. (I read the book and I love it.) One of the reviews said that you might be promoting teenage pregnancies. I think that’s a bunch of garbage but I wanted to know how you feel about that. By the way I love you and you’re books. I hope I can meet you someday!!

i am curious about how you foster the creativity in your writing. you have already created two worlds with twilight & the host and have mentioned the many other ideas you have.
what is your process? do your creative ideas stem from research or things you’ve read or do they simply pop into your head.
how would you recommend for others to “create” not only stories but in all realms of creation….writing, music, theatre, etc.

I’ve read you knew from the beginning that you knew Bella and Edward who end up together… at what point did you decide on other major plot points? ex Renesmee’s birth, Jacob’s imprinting, the final showdown with the Volturi?

Ok I thought of a bunch more questions. I knew Bella and Edward were going to have a kid! I thought about it forever . . .

    1. Will Aro want to experiment with the half-vampire children, since he is so curious about everything?
    2. What would you say to people who say Bella’s happiness is too complete, that she didn’t have to sacrifice anything? Don’t get me wrong, I loved it, but a lot of people are saying that.
3.What will happen to the split wolf pack?
    4. Why is Leah the only female werewolf? And why her?
    5. What exactly did Alec and Jane do to be burned for witchcraft?
    6. What chick flick was playing on page 269 that nobody was watching?
    7. What are Alice’s favorite stores to shop in?
    8. Why do the Cullens continue to call the pack werewolves when they know that they are not?
    9. The difference in skin between the main Volturi and Alastair compared to the others was confusing. Can you explain a little more of what caused it?
Sorry, I know that’s a lot, but there’s so much I want to know!

P.S. I would LOVE to hear something from Alice’s POV
I would also like to hear the complete versions of all the Cullen’s love stories.

    5. Does Bella ever attend Dartmouth?
    6. Do Jasper and Alice also have medical degrees/ have they attended medical school?

  234. Posted by Joanne Stapley in London, England:

In the Twilight saga you have vampires and werewolves. In The Host you have aliens. I have read you hope to write in the future about ghosts, time travel, and mermaids. Do you think you would ever write a completely human novel? (I actually prefer fantasy/sci-fi, but I was wondering).

  242. Posted by Liz Fallon in Liverpool, NY:

I just finished Breaking Dawn. **SPOILER ALERT** Then I read online that you said publically several years ago that vampires are frozen in time and can never change - ergo, this why they can’t procreate. I wonder how you could tell your fans something like that and then make a vampiric pregnancy such a central plot to your final book.

Where was the drama? Where were the Edward and Bella we have come to know? Where was the conflict? Where was the climatic ending? Everything that we loved about the first three books was missing in this too-perfect finale. Bella didn’t give anything up to become immortal. You negated the tension you built up in Eclipse.

Why did your characters need to have everything wrapped up nicely and perfectly (even contrarily to the vampire laws you yourself created for the series)?

Did Bella EVER convince Edward they have souls?
    How old is Seth?
I understand that you and Meg Cabot contributed to the book “Prom Nights In Hell”, so are you aware that Twilight and Meg’s Mediator Series are pretty damn similar?
You’ve previously mentioned that you want to write a book from Nessie or Leah’s perspective. Do you have any ideas what you want to write about? How formulated are your plots for these?
What sort of books are you thinking about writing next? Again, how formulated are your plots for these?

  257. Posted by Mallory Anderson in Cimarron:

Hey Stephenie! First of all, I LOVED your books, and I think Breaking Dawn was the PERFECT ending!

That said I do have a question… You’ve mentioned that as you were writing the entire series, you were always going to have Renesmee in the end; but you were asked if you could limit the series to a trilogy. You’ve also explained how you felt the need to fight for Renesmee…

While you were writing Breaking Dawn it’s totally obvious that’s Bella’s desire too. Did your fighting for Renesmee kind of carry over to the story as well?

  258. Posted by Chloe Palka in Carlsbad, CA:

I was wondering if Jacob was attracted to Bella, not because of Bella herself, but because of the part of Renesmee that was inside of Bella the whole time? Because Jacob was more strongly drawn to Bella once Renesmee was truly conceived, and if Jacob was destined to imprint on Nessie, it seems like that could be the reason for the strength of his and Bella’s relationship throughout the first three books- they just mistook it for love. Or was it actually love that had nothing to do with Nessie?

By the way, I LOVE your books :D. All of them. I can’t wait for Midnight Sun, and it would also be really cool to have a book from Alice’s perspective!! Thanks for writing, Stephenie :)

  264. Posted by Kelly Wysong in Berkeley, CA:

I’m reading Eclipse for the third time and I had one trivia-ish question, but one that might have an answer that us Twilighters would enjoy knowing! It’s about the Compromise chapter when Edward refuses Bella’s…um…advances, and she thinks he doesn’t want her, and then he tells her that she’s “too desirable for her own good” and she doesn’t believe him. He says “Do I have to send a petition around to get you to believe? Shall I tell you whose names would be on the top of the list? You know a few of them, but some might surprise you.”
I was just wondering WHO those other names are? Who wants Bella? Thanks- You’re amazing!!!!

  265. Posted by Amber Brown in Orem, UT:

I enjoyed your first 3 books quite a bit although some of the material is not what I’d expect from a member of the Church, being one myself. I wonder why you chose to put profanity in your novels when it is against what we’re taught as latter-day saints, and why some of the themes are spiritually offensive? I know I’m not the only “Mormon” that wonders why these things are there and if you truly have a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Breaking Dawn was the clincher for me. It offended my spirit so much that I don’t think I’ll ever read any of your books in the future. It’s a shame, too, because you really do have a talent for telling a story, but some of the things you choose to include in them go against what I feel should be precious to you as well.
