CCTV Tower Update
Walking past the Rem Koolhaas CCTV Tower the other day on a mundane mission to buy a water filter, I was struck again by the thought that it's either extremely cool or a total gimmick. They're now working on the bridge section that will connect the two leaning towers. Anyway, answering my own question, it doesn't really matter if it's a gimmick: if it makes you think, it works. Here's an update.

The first impression of CCTV tower is not only stupid but also wicked. as the leading media of China, CCTV gain both finance from the central govement and their pricely commercial advertisement. in the ordinary chinese people's eye, CCTV just like a spoiled child and became more and more arrogant. this building perfect show us !

I wouldn't say this thing is stupid, but I would say it is brainless. Specifically, it doesn't have a smallest of slice of Chineseness or beauty. It's a strange bastard of money and Western worship. It's pure form without substance, meaning or soul. It is the modernism of an bold archtect led to a beaurucrat's wicked dream of greatness, with other people's money.

It wouldnt annoy me so much if i don't have to pass it every day on my way to work.It made me think that the tax i paid was thrown into trash bins like this to build useless buildings!!!!!!

Mo: I think we must blame the west for this "brainless, Specifically, it doesn't have a smallest of slice of Chineseness or beauty. It's a strange bastard of money and Western worship. It's pure form without substance, meaning or soul. It is the modernism of an bold architect led to a beaurucrat's wicked dream of greatness, with other people's money." There must be some pressure from western countries to force Chinese government to do such a thing, especially imposing the "wicked dream of greatness, with other people's money" on the Chinese bureaucrats.
The Chinese bureaucracy are not to blame. They are the innocent victims of such relentless pressure for the wicked west. The Chinese bureaucrats are just there to do the bidding of these imperialistic westerners.

Dear Mr. Elegant,
I am changing the subject. What is your opinion of the Chinese government's decision to move universities from the cities to the countryside. I have heard of one that is 3 hours from the nearest city and only reachable on an unpaved road. It is built on the site of a farm. At this time, only the freshmen live and take classes there. In the future all the undergraduates will attend classes there. As it now stands, the teachers have to take a bus out there and back every day (a 6 hour round trip)! The government is building these new university buildings in several areas in the center of China. I was told that it was done to give the unemployed Chinese jobs in construction. This is similar to what the U.S. did in the 1930s.

The Bilderberg group ordered this building to be built to show its hegemony over the CCP and the Chinese people.

Amazing picture, their economy has been growing at a fast pace. I’ve noticed Estonia has also had success economically. The freedom allowed to their business has a lot to do with this success. The ideas of the free market were boldly put into practice and the world is watching the growth of Estonia. Less than 20 years ago they were in conflict with Russia. The singing revolution inspired Estonia and other countries in the region to protest for their freedom. (There is a great Documentary about Estonia's Singing Revolution: http://singingrevolution.com) It’s an emotional insight to the revolution.

The new CCTV building design is 100% appropriate for its use as the building for the leading media for China. The design express how the CCTV's position in all news stories and commentary. The leaning and bias is obvious.

"It's pure form without substance, meaning or soul."
Substance, meaning, and soul are for the weak and poor. The rich can buy their way into paradise. The poor must toil for eternity, seeking a "meaning to it all".
