Senate Split 50-50

...between the Republicans and the Socialists. The networks have called two foregone conclusions: Richard Lugar (R) the winner in Indiana, and Bernie Sanders (I, caucuses with Democrats) the new, democratic-socialist-identified senator from Vermont. Not such a good night for the Libertarians, whose candidate was creamed by Lugar.

There's a crazy push-pull going on at the networks now as real numbers start coming in. They're clearly antsy, given the rush of exit-poll data, possibly suggesting a Big News change in Congress, unless of course it's all absolutely FUBAR wrong as usual. On the other hand, there's a definite nervousness about actually calling--sorry, "projecting," as Wolf Blitzer just anxiously corrected Jeff Greenfield--any races.

The socialists, however, can pretty much pack it in and go to the victory party now.
