Yes, I'm Still in Beirut
Sorry I haven't been blogging folks, but I've been overwhelmed with the upheaval in Beirut. Hopefully you've been catching my stories about the Hizballah siege of Beirut on time.com

I read your piece "After the Blitz, Hizballah Runs Beirut" and was surpirsed at your opening paragraph.
"The outcome of the Lebanese political crisis may have been inevitable. On Friday Hizballah—the only force ever to defeat the Israeli army — defeated forces loyal to the American-backed Lebanese government."
Firstly, it's not true that Hizballah defeated the Israeli army. A more accurate description is
"fought to a standstill".
Secondly, the 'American-backed Lebanese government.' is The Lebanese Government.
The only good thing to come out of this from Israel's point of view is that, the next time war ensues, there can be no mistaking nor masking who really runs Lebanon.
