The Daily Bloomberg

Here's Mayor Bloomberg this morning on the Today Show promoting the city's new hybrid taxis (via The Politicker). One minute and fifty-eight seconds into the clip, Matt Lauer says to the Mayor, "So the taxis starting next year have to meet emissions standards - just in time for you to run for president - and by 2012 all the taxis will be transformed into these.." Bloomberg interrupts to say, "Well, part of your statement is right." And then everybody has a big chuckle. Watch:

Also, Chris Cillizza makes the case for Bloomberg for President, saying that "Bloomberg presents himself as the ultimate pragmatist -- someone who knows what he believes but is also willing to work with others to get something done." Cillizza continues:

A "doer" with a proven record of accomplishments in the largest city in America ... a checkbook plenty deep enough to keep him competitive with the two major party nominees ... a national political environment clamoring for an outsider to come in and truly shake up the status quo...

Sounds like the perfect ingredients for a serious Bloomberg '08 campaign.

Next week Cillizza will make the case against a Bloomberg run, which is something I briefly touched on three weeks ago.
