Obama Wins TBA Straw Poll

Barack Obama has won the straw poll conducted at the uber-liberal Take Back America conference in Washington D.C. Obama received 29% of the 727 votes cast, edging out John Edwards who finished with 26% support. Hillary Clinton finished a distant 3rd at 17%, Bill Richardson came in fourth at 9% and Al Gore, who was not listed as a choice, still scored 8% support.

Other notables from the poll, which was sponsored by the Politico and conducted by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner (GQR):

Respondents were asked to identify the 2 issues most important to them. Combined responses were as follows:

Respondents were asked whether after hearing a candidate speak it made them "much more likely, somewhat more likely, a little more likely, no more likely or less likely to vote for that candidate?" The results for two most important categories - "much more likely" and "less likely" - were:

As far as the demographics of the sample, the 727 respondents split 50/50 male/female, 37% were between the ages of 18-29, and 83% self-identified as "progressives."
