Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas dissolved the government today after four days of heavy fighting left Hamas in control of much of Gaza.

Responding to this story, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid today refused to say whether he called outgoing Joint Chiefs of Staff chair Gen. Peter Pace incompetent, but he did say he thought Gen. Pace "had not done a very good job."

John McCain called Reid's comments "highly inappropriate and regrettable."

In other McCain news, the campaign has purchased the domain name www.mittvsfact.com and will launch it in a few weeks, reports Jonathan Martin.

A federal judge today ordered I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby to report to prison in two weeks, denying the defense's request to remain free on bond until the appeals process runs its course.

The Massachusetts Legislature defeated an amendment to the state constitution banning same-sex marriage. Mitt Romney issued a response, calling the defeat "a regrettable setback in our efforts to defend traditional marriage."

The Clintons say they're worth upwards of $50 million.

While in Detroit today John Edwards provided more details of his universal health care plan. The AP reminds readers of the big detail: Raising taxes to pay for the estimated $90 to $120 billion plan.

At a rally in Delaware, Rudy Giuliani said: "What we're lacking is strong, aggressive, bold leadership like we had with Ronald Reagan."

Via Marc Ambinder, Mitt Romney is planning a mega-fundraiser (commandeering Fenway Park and the Garden) in Boston next week for a last-minute second quarter push.
