While this is certainly news, I don't think we should jump to conclusions about what it says for Fred Thompson's campaign. Because he's essentially already a candidate, we political junkies are tempted to dissect every bit of news for what it says. But he hasn't announced, and so all it might say is that Thompson is getting his campaign ready, fine tuning things before the main event. That, in any case, is what pre-season is for. Enough said?
