Kennedy Makes A Switch

We wrote recently about the possibility of Louisiana Treasurer John Kennedy jumping into the race against Sen. Mary Landrieu when she runs in 2008. The biggest issue: Landrieu is also a Democrat.

Today, Kennedy solved the problem by switching to the Republican Party, according to The Fix. After lunching with Karl Rove and other Washington GOP strategists a few months ago, Kennedy decided to take the leap -- and with it, his $2 million bank account -- to the other side of the aisle.

Whether Kennedy or some other Republican ends up being the nominee, Landrieu still faces the fight of her life after a large portion of the Democratic base was displaced following Hurricane Katrina.
