Rudy's $1 Million Night

Fundraisers for former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani are being asked to help organize a massive network of house parties around the country on September 26th, according to an invitation obtained by RCP. The events, coming just days before the end of the third quarter fundraising period, hope to raise at least $1 million in one night.

The campaign hopes to hold 1,000 house parties, with each host's goal being to raise $1,000 from small donors who contribute between $50 and $100. Participants will join Hizzoner in a live webcast starting at 8:30 Eastern.

New Jersey alone, according to an email from Rudy's Garden State finance director, Laura Slomka, has been tasked with holding at least 125 of the house parties, showing that the Northeast's fundraising well is far from tapped.

The events come just four days before Giuliani has to begin tallying his fundraising results and go head to head with Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney's hauls. Campaign manager Mike DuHaime "has made [the house parties] a priority for everyone," Slomka writes.

Giuliani raised more last quarter than any other Republican candidate, outpacing even Romney, the first quarter winner.

UPDATED: The Giuliani campaign paid Human Events, a right-leaning website and huge mailing list that goes to GOP activists, to advertise the night as "National House Party Night." The email, from DuHaime, urges readers to check out Giuliani's newly-revised website, host a house party and listen in to the live webcast.
