Hillary Comes to Florida

MIAMI, FL - Obviously the Clinton campaign has looked at the polls and concluded there is simply no way she can lose Florida, because it would be a monumental embarrassment for her to attend a rally in Davie tonight and have the results come in showing anything different.

Assuming Clinton wins tonight, it's a smart tactical decision on her part to try and get as much media mileage as she can out of today's meaningless beauty contest. There are plenty of voters in February 5th states around the country who don't know enough about the situation in Florida to make any meaningful distinction between the sound bytes they may see on the news or the headlines they may read in tomorrow's papers and those of a "real" primary contest. As always, it will depend on how the media plays it.

Given the way the political ground has shifted under Hillary Clinton's feet in just the last three days with a crushing loss in South Carolina followed by Ted Kennedy's endorsement of Barack Obama, her ability to spin the result in Florida as another "victory" for her campaign and to get some positive momentum back heading into February 5th is suddenly much more important than it was a couple of weeks ago.
