Not the one that plays for the Yankees. I'm referring to Rod Blagojevich, the Democratic Governor of Illinois, who was identified yesterday as "Public Official A" in the trial of Tony Rezko. To say this was the worst kept secret in Illinois would be overstating the case, since it wasn't a secret at all.
Rezko, who is battling charges of corruption in federal court, was one of Blago's big fundraisers. He was also, as most people now know, a fundraiser and early supporter of Barack Obama. As a result of the judge's ruling on Monday identifying Blago, Bob Secter of the Chicago Tribune reports it's quite likely we'll see the name of the current Democratic frontrunner mentioned during court proceedings in the coming days and weeks.
