Penn Apologizes

The Wall Street Journal broke the story today that Mark Penn, as chief executive of Burson-Marsteller Worldwide, was in talks with Colombian officials about bilateral free-trade agreements. Only problem is, Clinton opposes the deal.

Even though Penn wasn't meeting the Colombians as a aide to Clinton, it was enough of a black mark for the old campaign hand to apologize:

The meeting was an error in judgment that will not be repeated and I am sorry for it. The senator’s well known opposition to this trade deal is clear and was not discussed.
