Poll: Democrats Want Campaign To Continue

Coming on the heels of the Washington Post poll showing 64% of Democrats think Clinton should stay in the race, a new USA Today/Gallup poll (May 8-11, 537 Dem) taken after the North Carolina and Indiana primaries also shows a majority of Democrats don't think Clinton should withdraw from the nominating race. Of Democrats surveyed, 55% said Clinton should stay in and 35% (mostly Obama supporters) said Clinton should drop out.

Asked who Obama should choose as his running mate if selected as the nominee, 55% said he should choose Clinton while 38% believe he should choose someone else. Of Clinton supporters, 73% think Obama should choose Clinton. Of Obama supporters, 52% think he should choose someone else and 43% think he should choose Clinton.
