LOLCraigs, for Your LOLing
None of these quite hit the sweet spot, as it were, but I've been forwarded enough of them I can't NOT share. And, hey, HE MIGHT ACTUALLY RESIGN, thus ending your interest.

And my favorite:

I think a photoshopped LOLMitt saying "DO NOT WANT" should be on someone's agenda.

Um, what? If one cannot ridicule a homophobic homosexual then one's hands are inexcusably tied!
I look forward to your response where you explain to me how an angry, repressed, homosexual Republican pleading guilty to solicitation in a public mensroom is an indication of some failing on the left.

Ana - Could you wheel your chair over to Karen's cubicle and have her read this:
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/9/6/144019/2012
It details some of the problems that the Romney campaign has had with criminals running their finances. It should make a nice addition to the articles she posted about a certain Democratic candidate.

Terrapin,
I think this post is mean-spirited. I feel sorry for the guy. Jim McGreevey was treated entirely differently in liberal circles when he admitted to similar behavior. Furthermore, you have to admit that the evidence was pretty flimsy to put the man in jail. He may be dumb for pleading guilty, but certainly we should at least consider that the local government may have been over-zealous. The failings on the left is a double standard and defending the police so eagerly.

Tim: First, McGreevy got it good, after word came out. You either forget or weren't pating attention.
Second, as you note, McGreevy ADMITTED IT, CAME OUT AND RESIGNED. Craig wants us to believe he didn't mean his guilty plea, isn't gay, and will -- wait, wont -- wait, will resign.
Please. Craig deserves all this and more until he comes clean.

There's no reason you can't at once believe
1. Minneapolis' finest surely have better things to do than to try to entrap guys in public restrooms.
2. Idaho voters, not Republican senators, are the proper judges of Craig's conduct, and the GOP caucus acted totally improperly in giving him the bum's rush.
3. Those lolCraigs are teh funny.

McGreevy has gone on with his life after coming out. His book is out there and I think his ex is coming out with one, also. Mean while the ever entrepreneurial evangelist Haggard is using praying away the shame to fill his own coffers [and we all know how Bush loves that entrepreneurial spirit].
As far as Craig goes, he is a distraction from real issues other than stuck on stupid and proving the thesis that the blinded by a million points of light brigade have no real sense of humor or humility.
Stuck on stupid is not limited to the neo-cons as the Senate DEMs are 'blinking-shirking'. If you can't get it through the Senate then FILIBUSTER, don't cave, get a withdrawal date now. And Wolf is saying how Petreaus will be 'bad for the DEMS'.
I find this much more worthy of discussion:

Linda,
Foot note: Just saw a byte of Frederick of Bollywood in Des Moines with the involuntary head tics and throat clearing intact speaking to a 'small crowd in Des Moines'.
In the Leno announcement, I thought it was funny. Sometimes even very experienced actors get nervous "live" and there was so much riding on that appearance. However if these tics are a constant, they could be a more worrying sign.

Tim - Thanks for the reply.
The point about McGreevy was made very well by SF Bear. If Craig would simply admit that he is gay (or at least bisexual) then things would be different. You cannot expect the gay community to embrace a person that continues to rail against them.
Personally, I think that the left has handled Craig quite delicately but now that it looks like he may fight his own guilty plea he has opened himself up to legitimate criticism.
Your other point had to do with the 'Left' defending the police and that that somehow suggests hypocrisy. You seem to be under the impression that liberals never support the police - that is bunk. We love the police - we just want to make sure that the defendant's rights were observed. And by all accounts it appears that Craig was made aware of his rights, had a lawyer look over his plea agreement and was not subjected to any undue stress. But I welcome the ACLU to look over the case to make sure that the law was followed (as should every American).
What gets me is this - you seem to be indicating that Craig was 'railroaded', or pressured, into making his guilty plea. If that is the case, then how do you evaluate any of the confessions that have come out of Gitmo? After all, it isn't as if Larry Craig was abducted from American soil, held in solitary confinement at a military base, denied access to legal counsel or even acknowledgement that he was missing, subjected to interrogation techniques that approximated the pain and discomfort of major organ failure, and then tried in front of a military tribunal without being able to hear the evidence against him.
No. Larry Craig acted very strangely in an airport bathroom that was a known meeting place for anonymous gay sex, he was arrested by an undercover cop and after two months to review the charges, pled guilty to disorderly conduct. I see no hypocrisy for liberals in accepting that this was handled well by the police.

SF Bear,
McGreevey ran for Governor of NJ as a Catholic. He eagerly reached out to the catholic community by running ads referring to his younger years as an altar boy. After multiple scandals and resignations in his administration McGreevy became extremely unpopular in NJ. He resigned in August but effective after the November election! This ensured that a special election could not take place which undoubtedly would have resulted in a republican governer. He "came out" to ensure his party would retain political control not out of virtue.

Terrapin-- I too have very much respect for police, but I don't think that they handled the Mnpls situation too well. He was arrested for... foot-pumping?
Now, the fact that I don't like the arrest doesn't mean that the accidental outing of a wide-stance, pro-homophobia senator is not funny. It _is_ funny.
However, that does not make these little pictures funny.
As to McGreevey, (1) mentioning him is a distraction from the issue at hand, and (2) I thought he should have been criticized more intensely for his corruption. His "I am a gay American" speech was a masterful distraction from the real issue, which was hiring his boyfriend on the state dime. But it's neither here nor there.

How 'bout "Outta the clozit and in ur cloakroom!" or "Suck it, pigs!" (cf, "Suck it, Whigs")
On a slightly more serious note, please explain latest trope from Craig staffers where they're saying "he was going to quit anyway." How's that square with the errant call to the lawyer floating a scenario where he doesn't resign??

Are you implying that liberals are blind to corruption when a Democrat's involved? The McGreevey administration, like many in Jersey before it, seemed very sleazy to me before he resigned. I don't know ANY liberals who mourned his loss. The way he sucker-punched his wife was nauseating and now he's studying for the ministry! I don't think he's in any position to offer counsel or advice to anyone else for a great many years to come, if ever. Nearly as sickening as Guiliani petitioning the court to throw his wife out of Gracie Mansion so he could move his mistress (now wife) in permanently.

Well, the entertaining aspect of Tim's posts are that he fails to recognize WHY McGreevey (a snarky clown, to be sure) was treated better than Craig.
Craig has allied himself with a group that says sexual preference should be one of the basises upon which we determine whether people have civil rights, and which has spent a lot of time trying to win elections with the specter of gay, married, terrorists. As far as anyone can tell, he has fully supported this program.
McGreevey allied himself with a group (many of whom are NOT on the "left", by the way), who believe that sexual incliniations, as long as they do not involve harrasment, coercion, the nisuse of authority, or children, are NOT anybody else's business.
You can understand why, snarky as McGreevey is, he was treated with more patience by his allies than Craig has been. Craig's public behavior offended his rivals. His private behavior apparently offend his allies.
Why would he expect to be upheld?

I don't believe that this is a high crime that should force Larry Craig to resign. Let us remember that he only made a gesture. He never engaged in any sex act inside the men's room. What I believe is high crime is a married President of America getting an oral sex inside White House from an 18 yr old naive little girl, who was old enough to be his daughter and when it came out, he lied and denied it. ("I never had sex with that woman!")
"I smoked but didn't inhale, therefore I am not guilty." "I had oral sex but did not cum, therefore it was not sex."
