Why Drudge is a Disgrace
I know this is old news, but this guy is shameless. The headline, with a photo of a three-quarters crazed Hillary, is HEALTH INSURANCE PROOF REQUIRED FOR WORK but the linked story says this:
At this point, we don't have anything punitive that we have proposed," the presidential candidate said in an interview with The Associated Press. "We're providing incentives and tax credits which we think will be very attractive to the vast majority of Americans."She said she could envision a day when "you have to show proof to your employer that you're insured as a part of the job interview — like when your kid goes to school and has to show proof of vaccination," but said such details would be worked out through negotiations with Congress.
How stupid does he think we are? Answer: Extremely dumbolic.
I'll have more about Clinton's health plan in this week's print column.

It's an even bigger disgrace that so many Beltway media types approach stories with a view to getting linked by Drudge and write books with chapters titled, "Matt Drudge Rules Our World." Let's see, who was it who wrote that? Oh yeah, it was Time's very own Mark Halperin.

Drudge readers, like Fox viewers, think that WMD were found in Iraq, and that we invaded because the rest of the world demanded it after Saddam was proven to have flown the planes on 9/11.

Hoplite: good call!
Elvis: also true! The sad part is that the lemmings that make up the MSM either:
1) latch on to D's blinking lights (see: Dean's scream and Hil's southern drawl),
2) don't hold D's feet to the fire for past headline-farts (remember Kerry's "intern problem" non-story?), or
3) finally realize on 18Sep07 that "this guy is shameless", demonstrating an intuitive grasp of the obvious. Sheesh.

The last time that Rodham attempted to forcibly collectivize one seventh of the United States economy, NBC so-called "news" enthusiastically gave Rodham two or three hours of uninterupted time to promote her plan to model one seventh of the U.S. ecomomy after a Soviet five year plan. Will NBC so-called "news" again give Rodham two or three hours to promote her latest scheme? Also, why are political lobbying/advocacy groups like NBC so-called "news" allowed to spend unlimited and unregulated amounts of money to promote their political agendas and favored candidates (i.e., members of the Democrat party), but normal people are prevented from doing so under the McCain-Feingold Political Speech Suppression Act?

Let's see .... show an insurance card as part of a job interview. For what possible reason??? Oh, so you can be allowed to work. No, that's not "proof of health insurance required to work" is it? Just be honest ---- you libs want socialized medicine, plain and simple. Just let the words roll off your lips, you know you want it. And, you want to punish those who don't sign on to the 'national universal coverage' plan by forcing them to the ranks of the unemployed or to punish those who hire them. American citizens will have less rights to work than illegal aliens.
But, in honesty's name, the Repubs are no better. They've blathered on about limited government and lower taxes for years, but spend like money grows on trees. Hey, Joe. The thinking world knows Drudge is Sludge but he does have a vast audience of lazy 'journalists' who love to spread the Rovian word.
My question to you is, is Time-CNN developing a MoveOn.MSM policy of nothing to see here, so move on when it comes to the DoD, DoJ, DoS, HS, and the total idiots that are playing with their heads in the sand and their itchy, twitchy finger on the button. Is Waxman the only one who cares? Or Webb? Or Murtha? Or a few others?
Taking a failing war and a failing foreign policy off of the front page won't make it go away or make it all better. It won't reset the military or settle the unrest. Our troops aren't quitting. Why is the press?
Health Care is an issue. But nothing is really a happening right now. My guess is that it isn't even cut in stone yet. I mean Hil will have many more focus groups before the IA caucuses.
My guess is that Drudge will continue with all kinds of distractions to keep the lemmings from discussing the US's precarious position in the ole world neighborhood.

Make me laugh. Cut off Drudge's oxygen from a never heard of it blog?
Socialism always promises good things, but delivers first theft, then when they run out of things to steal, they proceed to enslavement. When slaves resist, socialists proceed to murder (to keep the others in line) and as the second generation rises through the ranks, to perversion. Only Perverts enjoy murder even when the promises of socialism are proven false.
Federal tax code gives a tax break to employers who offer health insurance that is not permitted to the worker themselves. Rather than have workers make rational decisions, the tax code pushes most into an inefficient "third party" payer. That pushes health care costs up. State mandates that require emergency rooms to treat those who can not pay also drive up costs. Who pays? The next person who walks into be treated who has health insurance.
Trial lawyers use the government court system to take in half our our health care costs through spurious lawsuits. That drives health care providers to large corporations, away from small towns, and into malpractice insurance where their income is siphoned off, and raising costs.
Does anyone really believe more government intrustion will decrease cost? If the government wanted to use its tools of theft and enslavement to reduce costs, they could enslave all health care workers, and when doctors and nurses retired, they could enslave everyone who had the potential to become a health care worker. Oddly, that would leave us on the whole, more free, as the rest of us would be free.
The socialist are not interested in health care, they want control. Therefore they will propose enslaving all who do need health care, so that the government can pay the doctors and nurses their cut. The government bureaucrats and trial lawyers will continue to expand the share that they steal. If you disagree, you will eventally be sent to jail (for not getting the health insurance that the bureaucrat demands).

Drudge's headline accurately reflects the comments from the article. There is nothing misleading. If she "envisions" a day when health coverage is a requirement for work at a job interview, she is more socialistic than I feared. More proof that the democrat party mindset is one that doesn't believe in the integrity of the American people to choose what is best for themselves. The mindset is to eliminate individuality making the multitude of the American people reliant on the centralized federal government. More and more proof that Hillary's and other democrates ultimate goal is the welfare state. I applaude Drudge for his continued efforts to expose these leftest ideas, that attempt to tear apart at the very fabric of the American system. Republicans are far from perfect, but definately hold more sacred the views of the founding fathers, and the sanctity of the constitution. God Bless America

Regardless of your opinion of Drudge or Hillary universal / socialized / single payer health care plans are failing everywhere they have been implemented. What I am completely amazed at, on an almost daily basis, is how the capitalistic system of supply and demand is totally demonized and belittled by highly educated people in politics. Competition in price and services would straighten out most of the problems with health care. Dependence on insurance companies to pay for your care allows insurance companies to increase health care costs at will. Doctors charge $65 for a 15 minute visit so they can collect $20 from the insurance company which never pays the full amount.

Not only was 9/11 an inside job, but people have to realize that government run health care is the only hope for the US. Only when government has the authority to grant health care based on what people eat, how much they weigh, whether they smoke or not, and how much they exercise will a perfect society exist. If we can just get the fairness doctrine passed to muzzle Drudge and Rush then we can get on to telling people what they can drive and how far each day they are allowed to, where they can live, hopefully whether they be allowed to have children, and finally when technology allows controlling how these idiots think and act. Are you serious? She even remotely suggests that the nanny state would require you to have insurance to work? to work? and you think he overracts by putting Hillary's future plans or ambitions in the public light?
Certainly he use the headline to his advantage like all newspapers do, but Hillary actually suggested, publically, which means she's given it a great deal of thought that we need to have some kind of employment verification system that requires you to fund other people's doctors bills or you can't work. To even suggest that is outright lunacy.
To compare an adult working to support themself and a family with a child going to school in a public institution, using public tax dollars is outrageous. This is where Hillary wants to take health care. Just another arm of the state that can force us, not at the point of a bayonnet, but at the point of eviction, starvation when you can't pay your bills because you lost your job to step in line.
This may be overreacting a bit, but if her policies even head us slightly in this direction its a terrible day for America.

It's not like he needs the publicity. It's almost as if he's the dorky kid in school saying, "See, everybody? People DO think I matter!" Sad... Oh well. Overall, he's pretty harmless (although I'm sure he thinks he's a "ruthless journalist."

Wow, got here via Drudge link. I found stupid, liberal stupid. Klein will now provide my daily office joke of the day material. "Dumbolic" will be used tomorrow. I can only feel sorry for "informed" liberals like Klein. But then again, someone has to be the butt of all jokes. Klein wins today.

The Drudgereport doesn't play sides with republicans like Fox Network or democrats like the Clinto News Network (CNN). Heaven forbid if there is a news source that let's the people decide based on the actual article and not some politically paid lobbyist like Hannity & Colmes or some other CNN nobody.
The DRUDGEREPORT rocks!

Time; didn't they use to be some kind of printed media, on I think paper. Who would think in today’s global cataclysm that any peace loving “Gia type” intellectual would even think of reading something printed on the dead carcass of a living being who is protecting our planet from alleged global warming. Where are my carbon offsets going to come from? Thank god for drudge! I have never seen his words printed upon the bloody pulp of trees.
Think about the glacial melt. New York, you will soon be underwater if the likes of those “Time” bandits are allowed to continue to print on PAPER. Oh the pain. We should protest the New York Times and its contribution to the daily blood shed.
Where is our socialist, communist humanity that the State demands from the common man?
I am deeply troubled. How Dare They, do this to our planet.

Joe, I'm embarrassed for you. Either you simply don't get Drudge or you're feigning outrage. The New York Times and many other mainstream media outlets routinely jazz their headlines, often in a way that is consistent with their ideological bias (notable exception: Wall Street Journal - hard-core conservative op/ed page, balanced news coverage unaffected by the liberal bias of their reporters -- i.e., one of the last bastions of respectable journalism). All Drudge is doing is hyping a headline, compelling the reader to click through to read the story and judge for themselves. This makes Drudge fun and relevant. You're smarter than this and I assume you get it. I'm guessing you were just bored tonight and decided to pull a "Drudge" and claim that "Drudge is a Disgrace!" ... oh my, a disgrace! Eek!!

So, the line in the article where Hillary envisions a time when workers would present proof of health insurance a part of a job interview is NOT supportive of the headline Drudge splashed?
Yes, we are that idiotic.

Hilarious! Klein who?
Must be a heck of a journalist if he has to rip on other newsies to make a headline.
He is mad that Drudge will print a headline that will grab people's attention. Read the article and the quote, and it's not even a far stretch. I don't know about Klein's readers, but I think a lot of people that like Drudge ACTUALLY READ THE ARTICLE AND MAKE THEIR OWN CONCLUSIONS. They don't have to be spoon-fed. Maybe readers of Time just scan the titles and call it good, in which case the headline becomes very important, so I can see why Klein's panties are in a wad. You Kos types are hilarious, too. Yeah, everyone who reads drudge is a bible-thumping, gun-toting, racist, ignorant hick who lives in Flyover Country. Thank God we have you guys to set us straight!

You know what's great? I don't read TIME and the only way I would have known that 1. Klein is still employed and B. he hates Drudge is that Drudge has it linked on The Drudge Report. Go figure...Drudge is actually keeping Klein relevant for another minute or two.

What I think is funny is that Drudge Report and Fox News get slammed for being conservative. The rest of the media is liberal! How can a sect who gloats about their open-mindedness and acceptance be so quick to shun and belittle anyone who publicly disagrees with them?

Yeah, I've heard that Drudge is an ego-maniac. I also keep hearing that he's gay. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) For instance, his obsessive posts about Barbra Streisand. You know, like what she wears. His catty remarks about Hillary. Anyway, he should just come out. He'd be a lot happier -- and probably a lot less Republican. I'll bet he pulls this link after this comment *wink*

Uh, just in case you disagreed with Gary's post, did any of you, including Joe Klein, actually read the quote in the article that Drudge based his headline on? ..."you have to show proof to your employer that you're insured as a part of the job interview" ... and Drudge wrote ... "HEALTH INSURANCE PROOF REQUIRED FOR WORK". What's the controversy?

It's a great thing that the Drudge Reports shows the socialist stupidity for all to see.
The problem would be that the knuckle dragging, terrorist loving, cut & run, retreat in defeat
liberal (progressive) socialists are unable to learn by their past failures.
Guess that's why their so-called majority would be paper thin with that nasty declining approval polling numbers adding a touch of reality.

It is sad that people defend and or attack political ideas like sports rivals. Too many people focus on the sound bites and headlines because they seem to think that is all "normal people" hear and read.
Well I'm normal and I read entire articles and formulate my own opinions. I even research past events and look at left and right media.

Consider the source. I stopped reading Time 30 years ago. Every time I pick one up I remember why I don't waste my time with it. I wouldn't even have been on this site if it hadn't been for the Drudge link.
And Joe, BTW, step aside from being a shill for te liberal establishment for a minute and think about what you wrote. Hillary's comment is just her continuing to turn up the heat on that boiling frog.
How about if I said, "At this point, we don't have anything punitive that we have proposed regarding retraining the media," but that I could envision a day when "you have to show proof to your employer that you've been retrained as part of the job interview."
Of course it would be extremely dumbolic and shameless to think I was saying the media should be retrained, wouldn't you agree, Joe?

Clinton operative and DNC bagman , Joe Klein who LIED when he denied writing Primary Colours has the nerve to criticize anyone about peddling propaganda! He has been a liar and fraud his entire career and works for the TIME organization which is a division of the Clinton INC/ DNC propaganda machine.

Before you fact-check Drudge, why don't you get back to us on the issue of Petraeus? You said he's an honorable man and that Moveon shouldn't have attacked him. But in subsequent posts you exposed a few Petraeus falsehoods. So, is he still an honorable man? If so, why? Don't dodge the issue and go for cheap applause by attacking Drudge. You should spend less time on that has-been Drudge and more defending your defense of Petraeus.

I'm never really sure what the bruh-haha is all about when it comes to Drudge. He just posts link to stories by other writers.
I've found very timely articles citing the perils and inevitability of global climate change...on the Dudgereport. Here, look at his archives if searching for "climate change"
http://www.drudgereportarchives.com/dsp/search.htm?searchFor=%22climate+change%22 The climate change atlas was very telling and worth the read.
Does he occasionally have over-the-top headlines that link to stories in which a comment is out of context? Sure. But I bet you read the story. Joe Klein sure did!
I'm a knee-jerk, bleeding heart liberal, I am. But I tell you, one of the current headlines over at CNN is "Judge: Spears must undergo drug testing" and over at Drudge is: "Russia, China worried by Iran attack talk"
Which one will I read?
