Your Turn: Who’s at the top of your list?

TIME’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people in the world spans politics, business, the arts, science and more. With so many different fields and individuals to choose from, we want to know which one of them matches your pick. Tell us below and also give your thoughts on our list:
• Who is hot and who is not this year?
• Who should we have included but didn’t?
• Who should we watch for our 2009 list?
Angela Merkel
Vladimir Putin
I CAN NOT believe who topped the 100… are people CRAZY… its a VIDEO GAME for God’s sake… this guy tops Al Gore, Oprah and HH Dalai Lama… I think the majority of the community that filled out your poll has lost their minds. At least I can be proud of my answers to it.
I am fully DISGUSTED.
NK
Chien Ming Wang of Taiwan is the most important and influential person in that country.
George Clooney, Ratan Tata, Suzi Orman. Are my top 3 choices.
And way, way down for me is Oprah Winfrey! She has become so drunk with her powerful popularity, that she now thinks that she can question Jesus Christ! You’ve only to read about ‘her church’ and all that is happening in it! Used to think that she was great, now I do not, but she is doing a good enough job in the, ‘I”m great’ department, so I ,and those who think like me, will leave her to it!
Joy O’Neil-Saldanha…..
I’m really hoping that this list was a joke, or maybe there was some sort of system glitch!
Robert Gates,Andre Agassi, Tony Blair,Herbie Hancock,Chris Rock.
Thats it!!!
Barack Obama(will affect USA’s politics directly or indirectly)
Recep Tayyib Erdogan(Alliance of Civilization and peace in middle east, stopping islamafobia)
Angela Merkel(the most influential person on EU politics)
Shimon Peres( always has a chance for peace if he can)
Luis Rodriguez Zapetero(Alliance of Civilization)
It is a US centric list. No Indian leaders other than Sonia Gandhi..no cult figures tha sway a billion people..amongst entertainers like Amitabh bachchan or Shahrukh Khan or Aishwarya Rai, no Osama bin Laden (who dictates US policy!), so let us not call it a World 100 but just a US 100.
Vladimir Putin
..and amongst business men, u have just heard of Ratan Tata but not the Ambani brothers? and LN Mittal …. and what happened to Bill Gates and Warren Buffet?
Among the most influential people is:
Michael O. Johnson, President and CEO of Herbalife Ltd.
“Influential” remember? At the top is Osama bin laden and Ahmedinijad..becoz they have dictated US policy for seven years and the King of Saudi Arabia, who the US kowtows to.
You should have included Benedict XVI
imran khan is famous all over the world
Tyra Banks and Tyler Perry
Anybody but Putin/Merkel.
Dalai Lama, PN Howard, my Mom
Sir/Madam,
This is probably the MOST patetic compilation of 100 leaders, who you claim to have affected our lives.
I am sure, like me, most of your readers have no clue about almost half of those who made the list.
Lagerfeld? Are you crazy?
I have nothing against Karl Lagerfeld but just citing an example. His ‘couture’ does not, in any matter or form affects MY life.
Whats gone with this annual and once ‘respected’ exercise?
Political correctness?
Shame on you!
b obama
H. H. The Dalai Lama
Hu Jin-Tao!
His positive policy improve the life of 1.3 billion people in Cina!
Nidal Sakr and Sara Bokker are two people if you don’t know, you must have at least read about, or was touched by their work, no matter where you are.
Obviously the list is for those who can make lists, and not necessarily for those who change lives all over the world, day in day out, one life at a time.
Not to forget, Rajab taib Ardoghan of course.
Bono with Bill and Melinda Gates should still be on the list. They continue to do important work.
Zac Efron is at the top of my list. Followed by NKOTB, JEFF GORDON, JIMMIE JOHNSON, DALE EARNHARDT JR, CASEY MEARS, BRETT FAVRE, PEYTON MANNING, OPRAH, MADONNA, , JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, KIRK CAMERON, LARRY KING, ANDERSON COOPER, AND KRISTIE YAMAGUCHI.
Obama is the FIRST possible black president. His personality is totally different from the other candidates. Why did you leave him out??
I am not sure on what makes a person “most Influential”. To include famous people simply for being famous is sad really. Where is the influence? Perhaps we need to redefine the word influence to mean “most popular”, or “most website hits”
I am sad that Roger Federer did not make the cut this year. His foundation is doing wonderful things in South Africa, he has participated in many charity events including Tsunami relief etc.. He excels at his chosen sport every year, and does so with grace, honour and dignity. He has never been involved in any scandals, crashed any cars, or had a string of models on his arm. He is number one in the tennis world for a reason-he plays great tennis, however, he is number one in millions of hearts because he is someone we should all look up to and admire. I am disappointed he didnt make the list. You should be to.
i would have to say i choose Vladimir Putin. he is a very strong man itellectually and shows many leadership qualities that some of us admire. he is my top choice because all others seem like a joke
My pick is Hillary Clinton, Why? With the grace of a Higher Power and the intelligence of the American People and the fortitude of the Super Delegates, she will be the next President of the United States.
Lou Dobbs should be included on your list because of his ability to provide daily information truthfully and without pressure from biased news sources. Fact is, he should consider a run for the US Presidency.
Barack Obama.
He has already begun to change peoples views for a new kind of politics in AMerica. His message for a more hopeful and authentic politics, away from the spin and diviseness we have seen in our politics over the past generation, is being embraced all over the world. America should be proud to have such a leader in their midst. We in the international community hope to see Barack Obama become the 44th President of the United States.
the winner probably invented some software that keeps voting for him even if he is offline.
Two extremely influential people that were left off your list:
Tiger Woods, who has done more for disadvantaged youth through his Tiger Woods Foundation than anyone in Pro Sports and…
Jared Diamond who has been extremely influential in portraying the history of mankind, and the possible roots of our demise in his two watershead books, “Guns, Germs & Steel” and “Collapse.”
Nicolas Sarkozy
In my opnion Russian president vladmir putin is the most influetial person in the world.
Russian President - Putin Vladimir !
Hu JinTao is great.
Bred Pitt and Angelina Jolie are very good.
VLADIMIR PUTIN
The Pope Benedict XVI
Barack Obama. He has given hope for a return to decency and intelligence to U.S. politics and leadership after the devastating terms of Bush-Cheney. Our country and the world may be healed in ways we can only imagine.
Lord & Savior Jesus Christ
Family & Friends
I am 3rd
(To barrow from Coach Sayers)
Gustavo Dudamel, the best conductor to hit the stage since Leonard Bernstein, young as he is, deserves a spot on the list. Just how many
of those pop culture icons will be recognizable a generation hence?
1. Barack Obama
2. Dalai Lama
You should not have had Hilary Clinton nor John McCain on the list, as they have done nothing influential or different during the past 12 monthd. They simply acted as Washington politicians and continued the business of lying, pandering, and cempletely changing their promises to fit whatever situation has arisen; just more politics as usual from this pair.
Pope Benedict XVI
Barack Obama
How can you leave this man off the list?
Brit Hume should be on your list I believe, as should Rush Limbaugh. Both are enormously influential, whether you agree with them or not.
Matt Drudge should be there.
The man at the top of my list is Kobe Bryant
Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse - executive producers of “Lost”!
Ma Ying-jeou has been at the top of my list over 20 years.
Person of my choice among all for Time 100 is Barack Obama.
Where the heck! is BONO!!!!!!!
He is very nice
Al Gore should be on the list! He is responsible for the masses becoming involved in the “green” movement.
Rush Limbaugh.
Are you Guys crazy?
If you are talking about influence you need to go geographic and include people with both positive and negative influence: think about Mike Adenuga, Nuhu Ribadu and Obasanjo (Nigeria), Sir Richard Branson and David Bechkam (England), Sepp Blatter (FIFA), Pele (Brazil), Ahmadinnajad (Iran) or even Osama Bin Laden.
Can any one justify inclusion of Steve Jobs and exclusion of Bill Gates within the top? Oh my God! Time, you are wasting our time!
Karl Rove should have been listed, regardless of whether or not his actions are completely immoral. I also think you should have included Al Gore, Ralph Nader, and any number of scientists / humanatarians leading the fight against global HIV / AIDS, TB, etc.
The top of my list is Barach Obama.
No sport section? It should include Roger Federer.
Thanks, Jeannette
Wow, this is sad, people are complete idiots, i mean most of you are mentally retarded i bet. A video game designer such as him would be like a #15 choice, NOT #1! George Cloony? Tyra Banks? I hope god will punish you morons. Who the hell is RAIN? I’ve never even heard of him. These people are the ones that SHOULD be in the top 10
Angela Merkel
Vladimir Putin
Barack Obama
Oprah Winfrey
Dali Lama
AL Gore
Google Guys
George W.Bush
Pope Benedict XVI
Tiger Woods
Those are some REAL infulentical people. You can disagree if they are top 10 material. You CANT disagree they arent at lest top 50!
Dalay Lama
Amitabh Bachchan
With the year that Radiohead had as pioneeers…changing the way music is listened to and received forever. Why the hell is Thom Yorke not on the list?
Chien Ming Wang
Yankees’ pitcher Chien Ming Wang
Wii is revolutionary. All the characters created by Nintendo are known across the globe. [honestly, how many people can actually have this achievement?] Shigeru Miyamoto should definitely be in the list, no question about that.
You missed Al Gore, since he still influences the world with his environmental crusade.
Who is NOT: Putin, for the USA still seems to be in awe for this wolf in sheep’s clothes. He’s a ruthless dictator nonetheless…
And you forgot Jesus Christ, since he influences the world already for twothousand years peacefully, regardless of what hateful message people make of his message.
Dalai Lama–a deceptive machinator
Barack Obama
You really expect anyone to take this seriously when you have Andre Agassi on the list but not Rush Limbaugh? You people are pathetic.
how can you have a list wihout louis farrakhan
Mr. Abdullah Öcalan
Why would you put Hillary’s picture on the cover captioned the “Time 100″ when she did not make the top 100? Misleading journalism!!!!
Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan
Serok(Leader): Abdullah Öcalan
Tyler Perry is at the top of my list. I thank God for him. He is a true inspiration to what real life is all about.
loretta lynn is one of the most top star in country music. she has had over 71 top hits in country music. she a true star of country muisc..and fan,s love her. she know as the Coal Miner,s Dauter……….
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who with his Art of Living Foundation has brought smiles on milions of faces. He has played a crucial role in peace talks, disaster relief and most improtantly spiritual healing of the world.
He has influenced lives of 30 million people across the globe and has been nominated for nobel peace price twice in a row.
He should have been on the list.
Putin V. V.
Nobodaddy
Bob Iger- Disney CEO– yes I work for Disney but Mr iger has revolutioned media with innovative idea’s regarding specifically how content is delivered
Vladimir Putin
lorena ochoa of course
I believe that Katie Couric should have been on your list. She is so courageous. I say that because she is staying on a newscast that is not doing that well and a network that is mediocre– and with all of that, she is just courageous. I believe that she is a trooper for that. Moreover, she literally risked her life by going to Iraq and other countries to report what’s going on in Iraq to viewers back here in the States. Hopefully next year she will be in this magazine.
Vladimir Putin, for turning around an entire country
I just cannot believe this—how can such a disingenuous man like Dali Lama be a candidate? He never cares about the Tibet people who are in poverty .Dali Lama is making use of them !I hate him!
I am fully Vladimir Putin,he is the last man in the world!
1. His Holiness the Dalai Lama - the most respected spiritual promoter of peace and ethics in the worldwide, yet is unafraid to consider that modern scientific findings take precedence over ancient religions as well as consider the possibility of some teachings as being specific to a particular cultural and historic context
2. T. Denny Sanford - businessman and philanthropist who has given generously, especially toward the improvement of the quality of life of children, and has been courageous to say that he is unafraid ‘to die broke’.
3. Senator Barack Obama - a US Presidential candidate who has proven ability to inspire hope and change, especially among the American younger generations, allowing them to believe in themselves as being part of a whole to bring hope and what’s good for America and to mend broken dreams out of America’s current system of corruption, greed, hate and anger instigation, and vengeful ploys. Senator Obama has exhibited an admirable quality of not rushing to judgement and has been seen to have always given himself time to consider before he acts - a quality that is so essential, especially in the handling of foreign relations… to avoid drastic mistakes.
Mr. Obama is one of the top people on the list. He has made many strides for the American people (not just African-American people)….Tyler Perry is also one of the most influential people today with his positive messages and plays. Keep up the good work gentlemen.
Rafael Correa, President of Ecuador.
Jacob Zuma. Man I couldn’t agree more. The man is like a pop up that cannot be bloked, the media has a very keen interest on whom he associates with, talk to, eat with, vitualy everthing that he does. I remember he addressed a forum of black journalists (FBJ) and the white journalists weren’t happy that they weren’t invited to the party. It’s a discourse that is exacebated by the possibility that he could be a candidate of ANC the countrys’ presidency.
Barack Obama
Mariah Carey are we kidding an over promoted Cd puts her on list America is lost if this a real list.
Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (the most important social leader of a pacific civil resistance in Latin America)
Rem Koolhas (the architecht who is changing the urban style of life)
Maurizio Cattelan (genius of the wax, one of the most important conceptual artists who really impacts with his political and social point of view)
Portishead (their return means the Renaissance of the alternative musical expresions)
JinTao Hu, president of China
Hu jin tao and Wen jia bao, Leaders of China.
Postive policy improve life standards of 1/5 of Human race
Where’s JK Rowling?
His Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet.
This list is an absolute joke. Brad Pitt and Angelina are more influential than someone like Rush Limbaugh ? Thats a joke.
Steve Jobs
Wheres Britney Spears?? Well, in Brazil shes more famous than Gisele Bündchen, Kaka or Carmen Miranda…
Kaká is a great choice…
He is a example for any people….
Our Minister of Finance, Kristin Halvorsen, should be on the list.
Our giant oil fund have strong ethical managment.
And a lot of the worlds other huge funds follow Norways example when it comes to investments. Money talks, and in this way Kristin Halvorsen make the world a better place.
Not a single dollar is invested unless human rights are followed.
Not a single dollar is invested unless the company makes a thorough contribution to clean environment.
I am sickened to see Bob and Suzanne Wright on this list and written about in such a positive tone. They are far from saints! I will agree that they’ve been influential, but in an exceptionally negative way. Because of their money and access to the media, those of us living with autism are force-fed their disgusting ideas of how autism should be treated. Their efforts are paving the way towards eugenic abortions, and the autistics who have to listen to their hateful speech feel unwanted, unloved, and despised.
STEPHEN COLBERT IS NO.1 !!!
I think you should have included:
Pope Benedict XVI
Angela Merkel
Nicholas Sarkozy
Jean Claude Trichet
Great pick ! President Ma, Republic of China - Excellent choice for the cover of Time 100. He is definitely a great leader.
Vladimir Putin - president of the world
Look here for more INFORMATION
bogoslov.narod.ru
Russian site
Any list of influential people that does not include Bill O’Reilly of Fox News is not something we should take seriously.
vanessa mae
Thomas Friedman. How could there be a list without him?
Obama and Clinton and McCain?
LOL
You’ll just have one. Others will be forgotten soon.
PLEASE, George W. Bush!!!!!
He merits no recognition for influencing the country or world towards improvement or anything good.
On second thought, he may be the MOST influential for uniting the country and world in making sure we have no more of his type!
Wow You have entertainers on here from the U.S that even I have never heard of!!! But I do know who Shah Rukh khan is…King Khan should have been on the list!
I think that Geert Wilders and the film he put on internet about the islam, influenced people here in Europe. His influence was not used in a positive way. An example of someone who used his to help others would be Vladimir Putin.
Bearing in mind the criteria is “influential”, it is mindboggling and hilarious that in a time of a worldwide economical depression, wars continuing in Iraq and Afghanistan and the environment in jeopardy, not to mention a host of other catastrophes, coinciding with a recent change of leader ship in Russia and the ongoing election of US candidates for the year-end presidential election, and we shall find a wideo game “wizard” and a popstar among the top 3 “influentials” are you kiddin me!, while we must look way down on the list to find a Bernanke, Al Gore and Obama, not to mention Hillary (I didn’t see Mc.Cain), Bush and Medvedev, but perhaps herein lies the answer to much of the nonessential and often outright hypocritical debate we are witnessing in the present US-election - we most surely need a change and a change of the TIME magazine editorials too.
I miss J.K. Rowling
How did Time formulate this list? Oprah Winfrey should be near the top of the list. Most of the people that you in front of her on the most influential list, could not move people for a cause the way Oprah can.Your calculations are flawed….. Oprah is number one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Michelle Bachelet, ha sido la mejor presidenta de Chile, junto a ella construimos esperanza.
Kimberly A Yonkers MD. Her main interest is in servicing women with mood and anxiety disorders. She is on the staff of Yale University.
Fethullah Gulen :
In a world where individuals seek personal fame and accomplishments that seem nothing new under the sun, F.Gulen seeks to promote peace and dialogue among civilizations for the sake of the global community. His followers preach, teach, and establish private schools all over the world; publish books and magazines, dailies and weeklies; broadcast television and radio programs; fund scholarships for poor students and avoid politics and political ambition. He should be on this list respectfully.
I don’t understand why TIME keeps ignoring Britney Spears. For the past two years nobody has influenced pop culture, American entertainment media, news media in general as much as she has. Entertainment media you might ask, well yes at least in America it seems that entertainment news are the most watched, read about and commented items now-a-days. I don’t know how much attention the miley cyrus VF scandal has gotten, and Spears truly revolutionized sensationalism all over again and pioneered internet media such as celebrity blogs. It was almost as, everyone wondering what Britney will do next, then a tragic even occured, then people concerned, then people don’t care anymore and back to wondering what Britney will do next.
Angela Merkel
I strongly disagree with western mainstream media’s treatment of Dalai Lama.
Dalai Lama is a joke, he obtained his current status as “peace loving religious leader” with the help of CIA. Check out State Department’s own website and read how they paid him and trained his supporters in order to rebel against China.
http://www.state.gov/www/about_state/history/vol_xxx/337_343.html
Dalai Lama used to be a slave owner, tortured fellow human beings with the cruelest ways imaginable. He drank from the cup made of human skull, he requested live human sacrifice for religious ritual. Check out all the pictures of the slaves before they were set free by communist China in 1948. Do not believe in what the western media said.
It is a slap in the face of the millions of human right people when he received Nobel Peace price.
Giving Dalai Lam nobel peace price is worse than giving it to Hitler and Al Queda combined. He is not only not “peace loving”, he is an opportunist that tries to take Tibet back so he can rule the slaves and be a king again!
Jon Steward
See how the real Dalai Lama is. He is no saint, instead, he is the most evil human being in the last century!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cb8qJS1KOeI
How could you put Michele Bachelet and not Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva? What’s Ms. Bachelet’s influence around the world, compared to Lula’s?
And how could you disregard the pope? Even though I am not a religious person, i believe you could not forget about the pope! Is he less influent than the Dalai Lama? Most of names are incrediblly bizzare, not saying ridiculous. It seems everybody in the list is spinning around USA… so, say they are influent for US, not for the world!
Chalabi,
Pr. Silas Malafaia is a good example for anyone.
I think the list is pretty thorough, but George W. Bush should be higher. If I’m not mistaken, the list is about the most influential people, positive or negative. If that’s the case, the President of the United States of America is the most influential person of the most influential country, so he should ALWAYS be in the top five.
Some other people who could have made the list are Roger Clemens and Jay-Z. One of whom is at the center of a drug epidemic. The latter is the most influential artist in music.
Names to look out for in 2009 (besides the names mentioned above) are Will Smith, Warren Buffet, and Malcolm Eustache.
it’s rain not in this year’s 100 most influential people issue AGAIN?
but i do not understand… you really should give him something after making himself 2nd on online poll and making himself debut on hollywood movie, THAT’S A BIG STEP FOR ASIAN ENTERTAINER, who isn’t actor especailly since his a king of asian pop star!
can you explain to me, why he ain’t influential enough to be on actual 100 most influential peoplelist
I am very pleased to see my favorite singer on the list. A lot of people don’t give Mariah Carey her credit where its due. She has so much negativity shooting at her in America that its just a tribute for the blessing God has bestowed on her to always come out on top. Her music has helped millions reach a place of certainty in their life. I am very happy for her. May God continue to bless her always.
Hot this year are: Miley Cyrus, The Presidential Candidates
Not hot this year: Britney Spears ( I pray for the Pop Princess Everyday)
Babra Walters should have been included this year.
I think you should watch for Beyonce Knowles-Carter, The President Of The United States.
How can you profess a top 100 influential people list without discussing the Ron Paul presidential run? It is quite possibly the loudest calling of public support of a ‘rogue’ candidate in my lifetime. Not only did he set records in campaign fundraising and grassroots support, he is the only true Republican who ran for President in 2008. It is a shame that CNN along with other new organizations shunned the most logical, appropriate, intelligent, well spoken, educated, influential and QUALIFIED candidate in favor of corporate sellout candidates. When I see Angelina Joie and Brad Pitt on the list it makes me wonder if your organization actually cares about the state of the world, or just pleasing the ‘Flavor Flav’ crowd that has tainted our society. You really missed the boat on this one TIME.
Paris Hilton
VOTO POR RAIN
Your list lost all credibility when you added Miley Cyrus to it.
I would start with the one should be included and arent.
*Rush Limbaug; even though he is not liked by many of the medio, like you, I think he represents a rational and smart part of the society, the one that is always necessary to have as a reminder of who we are. Because it is easy to forget and it’s good to have people that can help us see more clear.
*Bill O’reilly, for the same reasons. It is so good to have people that work hard to provide true information for their audiences. They are a great influence, both should be there. But you won’t put them.
*MItt Romney; He represent what this society fight each day. He is honest, a family man, sucessfull, smart, clean, respectful of family and moral values. He did a good, honest and clean campain and paid the price for being that way. Normally what is more comerciable is being dirty, dishonest etc. HE was and is the exception of that and many people saw it.
The ones shouldn’t be there.
* Barack Obama, because he doesn’t represent any good influence to anybody, except those who are like him. He doesn’t want to speak the truth about his life, his ideas, he is whatever you want him to be and that it’s not a good sign for a candidate to the White house.
* Hillary Clinton; she represents deshonesty, so I wonder why she is a influence to somebody. The Clinton are the worse thing can ever happend to a country.
* Bladimir Putin; he is as dishonest and a lier as the both above, plus he is a murderer, and I cannot believe that he even made the Time cover magazine! He is a murderer and he deserved that? .. come on! it’s like having Chavez making the cover as a positive ma.
The ones you should watch for your 2009?
* Anybody that tries hard to help the world being a positive and honest influence upon the people. All those who support life, respect family values, honesty, those that many times are not famous enough to be known publicly.
Dalai Lama, Putin, Obama
ron paul. he’s the man who we need to be elected next president. desperately.
This list should have 50 people.
I mean, celebrities and self-help authors…. come on.
Neither Bill Clinton nor Al Gore on this list? Osama Bin Ladin? Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez?
Miley Cyrus?! No disrespect, but Miley Cyrus???
Good or not, Britney Spears should definitely be included on the list.
How is it that Mookie al-Sadr gets on your list but General Petraeus does not?
Barbara Walters, Journalist, fully deserves to be on this list for her entire body of work.
BRETT FAVRE
Does anyone remember Benazir Bhutto?.
I realise that this person was executed on Dec 27 2007 and missed the 2008 season by a mere 4 days. The tragedy and loss of this women should never be forgotten and should have been in the top 5.
1. Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Bump!)
2. Barack Obama (has changed politics forever)
3. His Holiness the Dalai Lama(Has caused uproar in cities around the world with Pro-tibet protests)
Korean people must be clicking every day for their hero. And, now Japaneses invented software clicking without clicking for their own. What next? Why does it have to be always scam to become famous?
His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Why? he is so committed to make peace with China, promoting human values around world and religous harmony. Al Gore, Why? he is working for to save the our planet. Barack Obama, Why? He is very honest and has potential to change the world.
For me, the most influential of the wordl is Madre Teresa de Calcutá
even dead, because 90% of the people of this list only want fame and fortune.
Korean people must be clicking every day for their hero. And, now Japaneses invented software clicking without clicking for their own. What next? Why does it have to be always scam to become famous? People, let’s be critical a little bit. Why not vote for a mouse?
How could Tiger Woods not be listed in the top 100? The work his Foundation has been doing over the past 10 years ranks up there with what Lance and Andre Agassi are doing. I know he has won many awards, but he has been consistenly giving back to his community for more thant 10 years in addition to dominating men’s golf for a similar period of time.
The most influential person in the world, the MOUSE.
Tiger wood is not on the list because he is busy playing games.
I think that Miley Cyrus should be kicked off the list.
Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr.
While holding the title of President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Dr. Mohler also hosts a daily radio program, as well as an influential blog. Dr. Mohler does what very few other learned theologians successfully do - engage in conversation with the average citizen. Dr. Mohler stands firm by his conviction to the truth of Scripture, and is not afraid to ask the hard questions, and to seek out the interesting and unusual in the culture. Dr. Mohler is far and away the most influential public person in my life right now, and it’s not even close.
and seriously, paris hilton?
and her chiwawa
Niki Kay
Anyone who gets that upset about an internet poll where, surprise, people who spend a lot of time on the internet are the main voters MUST be influential, right?
I, for one, am not DISGUSTED.
M
because so many people look to his opinion on cars
What about devil..
What about it, Angel?
I am quite surprised that you have left off the chart Pope Benedict XIV… Even if he might not be the most influential of the Popes, I believe he is more influential than the head of the orthodoxic Church of Constantinopolis…
Can we get together..?
Mmm… why not?
Whoooo..we will have so much fun together.
Yes, we will make some hot a** couple, baby
I think that Paul Farmer and Jim Kim should be on this list. As scientists, healers and innovators, both are working providing health care to the most impoverished people in our world and combating traditional thought and beliefs about treating patients. Their respect and love for humanity is second to none and since they don’t have a national syndicate plugging their work it is often done in obscurity in the darkest corners of the world, where our society often forgets to look.
hillary clinton
she is a champion for all people
Can i join u?
Not in a million years, you b…
I will blow you
I salute
woof
well, If we vote, you won’t get no chance human. You humans are pathetic.
well, we multiply faster
well, why bother, just enjoy. I won’t be seeing you next year.
well, I will see you now.
Chien Ming Wang of Taiwan
Why is Ma Ying-jeou even on the list?
he hasn’t done anything yet…
unless Time is considering his recent ass kissing to China as a factor.
IN LATIN AMERICA PRESIDENT BACHELET IS THE MOST INFLUENTIAL POLITICAL BECAUSE SHE IS THE FIRST FEMALE ELECTED PRESIDENT IN A CONTINENT DOMINATED BY MEN..FOR THIS NEITHER LULA OR CHAVEZ INFLUENCE A FEMININE MAJORITY THAT WAS CHANGING THE HISTORY OF THE PLANET AS MAKE IT MERKEL IN EUROPE, FERNANDEZ IN ARGENTINA AND SOON CLINTON IN THE UNITED STATES.
rolling, rolling .. wind~
well, you won’t see me but I exist.. bubble.. bubble
I am looking down at YA!!!!
Hu Jintao is one of the most successufl and influential leader around the world. He is steering China into a sound and sustainable course.
Also he is a leader with charm and intelligence.
I am down here.
Oops, You did it again!
~<3 love ya
4 some, ma?
You are not worth.
let’s be little be serious but relax.
Who in the world came up with your list? Where’s our Nobel Prize winner, Vice President Al Gore and Republican presidential candidate, Dr. Ron Paul? The majority of the world both knows and respects both of these gentlemen.
Just rename your list to 100 most influential people in America. This list is seriously biased to the U.S.
Noam Chomsky
CONGRESSMAN, DR. RON PAUL
Presidential Republican Candidate, Congressman Ron Paul
RON PAUL
Harry potter,
ahm and INCUBUS!!!! the best band
Prince William UK?
Love, Jesus
Hu jin tao and Wen jia bao, Leaders of China.
NARNIA
Congressman Dr. Ron Paul - He has brought attention in the political arena back to the Constitution and what the Founding Fathers intended for our country. While his message hasn’t reached everyone yet, there are millions in this country who are now more knowledgeable and passionate about politics and the Constitution.
ALMANY
Dalai Lama - the most respected spiritual promoter of peace and ethics in the worldwide
ARMANI
DOCTOR WHO
MIB
MARSIAN
SNOOPY
SPONGE BOB!!
Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel of course. Two most influential and powerful leaders.
Dr. Ron Paul is definitely at the top of my “Leaders and Revolutionaries” list!
Congressman and Presidential Canidate Dr. Ron Paul
1. Dalai Lama is the best candidate from the list
2. Angelina Julie
It doesn’t have to be real human isn’t it?
I am so happy to see that one the best Artists of all times is in this list. Mariah Carey i love her and her music.
1. Sponge bob
2. Kim possible
3. Patric Star Fish
4. Squidward
5. Hello Kitty
6. Super Man
7. Bat Man
8. Cat Woman
9. Joker
10. Dare Devil
11. Iron man
12. Dorthy
14. Wiz of Oz
The POPE!
1 billion and two hundred thousand people are enough to be influent as a person?
You are anti-christian, false and deviationist.
MN
Ron Paul. Who paid you guys to make this list? What a joke.
Ron Paul
Tyler Perry is at the top of the list. Anyone who has watched his plays or movies can vouche that he uses his outrageously funny character, Madea, to teach everyone lessons about life, love, and achieveing the goals you set.
Tyler Perry is definitely worthy. He is a prime example of the American Dream.
Ron Paul, Leader to Restore of the Republic
Dr. Ron Paul
Where are Matt Drudge and Rush Limbaugh. I thought they’d be #1 and #2 but instead didn’t even see them on your pitiful list?
Ron Paul
No doubt, America has a real patriot, Statesman, Moral compass of 51 years married to one woman, medical doctor, served in our armed forces, protected Americans heritage while serving in congress for decades.
He is even still making an effort, against MSM and his political party support or coverage, to be our President this year.
The fact Time failed to even mention Ron Paul as “influential” reflects MSM disassociation with reality of actually choosing “The worlds Most Influential People”.
Our family votes Ron Paul as # 1on the Time list.
Vladimir Putin is the man.
Dalai is a dirty liar and pogrom provoker.
Obama is just a political marionette and a real jock.
The Dalai Lama, Angela Merkel, Bishop Desmond Tutu
this is ridiculous; Beb Bernanke?!?! The head of a private entity that dictates America’s “free” economy?
George Bush?! He’s basically taken a douce on the Constitution with regard to personal rights and freedoms. Habeous corpus is a joke thanks to him and his administration.
Ron Paul is a real revolutionary in politics; the only candidate to run a presidential campiagn without a single penny in debt. Imagine how the other three candidates will run the country if they can’t even budget a campaign. Ron Paul has ignited intellectual brush fires in the minds of freedom loving people everywhere.
You can’t be serious. Who are these people?
I’m a gamer and I’m a bit happy about Shigeru Miyamoto-san been number one in the poll. But, still, I can’t stop think someone else deserve this position more than him. Personaly, this person had influenced my life more than everyone else, except for the notable exception of my parents. Maybe some people has to remember he actually created some wonderful characters and help to build an entire industry. But still… maybe he has to be higher than Bill Gates or Steve Jobs, but never above political personalities or leaders like the Dalai Lama or the Pope.
For me, he’s the most influential person ever, but, for the world and in 2008? I don’t really think so.
The person on top of my list is Dr. Ron Paul (R-TX) who is a Republican Presidential Candidate. He is a real conservative and the only man who is brave and strong enough to uphold the Constitution and fight for the what made America great. The message he speaks - freedom and the Constitution, attracts a large group of enthusiastic and VERY dedicated supporters. Despite the fact that the mainstream media did all they can to marginalize him, his message of peace, freedom and prosperity still resonates and WILL continue to resonate for a long time. He has cured a lot of people’s apathy which is remarkable in this day and age. If you do not call that influential, what is?
After carefully reviewing the TIME 100 list, I am surprised that your magazine decided not to include Kanye West. In regards to the music industry today, Kanye is one of the few innovative talents that can actually sell records. His last album, Graduation, was the highest debuting album on Billboard for 2007, selling close to a million copies in its first week. There is a reason for this. The honesty and depth he puts into his music has allowed him to speak to a generation of youths unlike any other artist. Additionally, Kanye currently has one of the most beautifully orchestrated and masterfully designed tours in years. Not including Kanye West on your list calls into question whether it is a true representation of those that are influential.
Dr. Ron Paul
You guys are obviously asleep at the wheel!
Sonia Gandhi is right choice.
Congressman and classical liberalism scholar Ron Paul.
This list should be renamed America’s most influential people. With one or two obvious exceptions, the vast majority of people on this list have little or no influence outside the US, particularly the sports people. What do you think people who live in Africa make of Andrei Agassi? Do you think they are influenced by him? If this is genuinely thought of as being a list of truly influential people then the level of ignorance is staggering.
I am disappointed to see that one of the biggest voices for real change in this would, the honorable and unflagging Dr. Ron Paul was not included as one of this years most influential people. Not only has he educated millions of people around the world in what true liberty means and what the true role of government in protecting that liberty is. He has also energized and inspired a massive grassroots effort in restoring the unique and powerful vision our Founding Fathers gave our country and the world. To that end thousands of people are running as liberty minded candidates at every level of government, and millions continue to support and share Dr. Paul’s message. Dr. Paul is one of the most revolutionary leaders of our lifetime, yet he doesn’t do it for fame or power. His only goal is to promote freedom, prosperity, and peace; so we may live our lives in the pursuit of happiness as our Founding Fathers intended. Congressman Paul is a true statesman, and should be considered one of the most influential and effective people in 2008 and beyond.
I vote for Ron Paul, for all the reasons he has stood for for the last 50 years. His entire life inspires me. Thanks!
The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan
The inclusion of the new Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd, in such a list demonstrates once and for all the sheer lack of research that actually goes into such a compilation. Kevin Rudd is a master of political spin and empty gestures of pure symbolism that actually do nothing to improve the lot of the average Australian. The only thing his rhetoric achieves is impressing the vacuous left of Australian society which is personified at the moment by the likes of Cate Blanchett. In fact, the Prime Minister thought it was more important to visit Ms Blanchett in hospital after the birth of her child than attend the State Funeral of a former Senator and leading statesman from his own party. After only five months into his premiership, many Australians are already starting to wonder whether there is any substance at all behind Kevin Rudd’s glossy sheen and gargantuan ego. Cate Blanchett’s breathless testimonial would seem to do his cause no favours.
Republican Presidential Candidate and 10 term Congressman:
Ron Paul
Vladimir Putin
DR RON PAUL,a true visionary and revlutionist.Dr Paul has given thirty years to congress and is a real statesman. He lives his life according to the constitution.Something our gov. has gotten away from.Wish the media would give him his do respect.
This poll is ridiculous to have listed the five most influential people in the world as a video game designer, a Korean pop star, a comedy talk show host and two supermodels. Not to mention that these picks are over Senators, Popes, the leader of Russia, Governors, the U.S Secretary of State, the lunatic dictator of North Korea, former prime minister of the U.K., Oprah, and worst of all, the President of the United States! Whether he is a good president or not, he is still the leader of the Free World! What is the world coming to?
I find it pretty odd that Linus Torvalds and Richard Stallman do not make your list. These are two people who have pioneered and helped develop an insurgent economy of software development which continues to gain ground on the traditional capitalistic approach to software development. Without free software companies like Amazon, Google, and YouTube would probably not be able to exist. The iPhone’s web browser was developed by modifying a popular web browser written for the Linux desk top.
I thought this was a list of the most influential people in the WORLD, not the U.S. I definitely do not believe most of the celebrities should not be on the list. They may have an impact on American pop culture, however, they do not impact the world.
Some of the political figures, such as Clinton I disagree with as well. She has been influential in the past but recently she has done noting but run for president. To say that running for office makes you influential is to say Ralph Nader is also.
I’m happy that Sonia Ghandi and Hu Jintao were included. I completely agree with them being on the list.
Ma Ying-jio
He is the hope of Taiwan.
The most important person for me is my mother, sister, brother and grandmother. The most influential person in this world is God.
Time’s did right by putting Dalai lama at the top. He not only inspire the people but transform them. He is truely a man of GOD and his life should be cherished and studied.
Thanks, Time
losherap
Ron Paul
my top of my list is of course BRAD PITT and ANGELINA JOLIE
In my opinion your list is totatly correct and balanced. Also I am so happy because a lot mexicans are incluided on the list. I must say that the persons that you incluided, are persons that are very representative, important and influencial in my country, however you missed a very important one for the mexicans: Vicente fox Quesada. even he is not already the president from mexico, Fox still has lot of influence with the mexicans and their culture.
Dr Ron Paul
Chuck Baldwin
Jessie Ventura
Dr. Ron Paul.
A person that can unite hundreds of thousands of people in the name of freedom, surely deserves some credit.
A person that can drive the media into denial mode and cause the Republican party to quake and run for cover. Should get some recognition.
No other politician running for president of this great country is going to tell its people the truth, they are all afraid of the polling results.
Ron Paul should be on that list. Representing truth, freedom, and the restoration of American values that have eroded over the last 50 years.
hi, i vote for lorena ochoa, for me she is the most wonder woman in the world in tihis moment.
thanks
Hey, don’t worry about Time’s silly list of who they think is influential. They live in their own bubble and are about as trustworthy as a junk yard dog.
Time doesn’t need to consider if the top gives positive or negative impact to the world, so that’s why a top like this year generated. Wowow~do they even look into the history book or they just listen to a talk show and polls?
I was very thrilled when I found out that Stephenie Meyer was on the list! I love her Twilight series, and in my opinion, she is #1 on my list!! STEPHENIE MEYERS ROCKS! (and the movie’s coming out in a little more than half a year!!!!!!!)
RON PAUL..
Angelina Jolie
No Britney Spears? Really, TIME? No one has had as much influence on the media and culture in the past few years as her. The fact that you choose to ignore the world’s most famous and photographed person on a weekly (and now yearly) basis just displays how low a magazine will sink to be taken seriously. Ms. Spears is clearly THE most influential person of the year and your ignoring of such power just displays how poorly your magazine reflects our world.
Dr. Ron Paul of course. The only person capable of cleaning up Ben Bernankes fiasco. What ever Ben is doing on this list is unfathomable. Was someone throwing darts at a list of names to come up with this list?
Barack Obama
H .H THE DALAI LAML NOBEL PEACE LAUREATES AND WINNER OF US CONGRESSIONAL GOLD IS THE SOURCE OF ASPIRATION FOR THE MILLION OF PEOPLE AND HE IS THE GREAST PROMOTER OF PEACE AND ETHICS.
THE DALAI LAMA IS THE SYMBOL OF PEACE . LONG LIVE H.H
RON PAUL
watch out for Rob Bell. He is getting ready to publish his 3rd book and is the pastor of one of the largest churches in America.
Hu Jintao
Morton Downey, Jr.? How predictable for such a liberal organinization such as TIME. This loser, drug addict had so much given to him and he threw it away, TIME after TIME, after TIME. Why is it that the liberals put drug addicts, alcoholics and other social deviants on such a pedestal? There are so many people that are doing such great work, helping others and making a positive difference in the world that it is an insult to have your magazine list Moron Downey, Jr. as one of the TIME 100 and hold him up to America as an example to be followed. Ask yourself, is his behavior the type that you would recommend for your children to follow? Use some more creativity, dig deeper and find someone else in this great country that has the character, the morals and ethics that should be followed to make a positive difference. This selection just further exemplifies how out of touch the far left media is from main stream America. Keep this type of behavior up and the end of TIME will be here sooner than you anticipate.
You should have included Dr. Ron Paul, the only one running for President from the two major parties who is a true statesman, leader, thinker, and champion of the Old Republic our founding fathers bequeathed us, but which we have lost.
Dr. Ron Paul ~ Republican Congressman from Texas and Presidential Candidate (www.ronpaul2008.com)
Dr. Paul is a former OB/GYN MD who has delivered over 4,000 babies and treated patients for free when they could not pay. He was also a former flight surgeon in the US military.
Over his 30 year career in politics, Dr. Paul has embodied the conservative ideals of a true Republican statesman: He never votes to raise taxes, has never taken a paid political junket, doesn’t participate in the government’s lucrative pension program, always votes for a balanced budget and is a consistent defender of the Constitution.
Dr. Paul understands the importance of sound monetary policy and predicted the current U.S. economic decline years ago. His new book “The Revolution: A Manifesto” (released April 30, 2008 and already #1 on Amazon.com), details the important connection between monetary policy and foreign policy and how that contributes to peace and prosperity. It’s a simple book that offers workable solutions for turning America around and restoring our personal liberties.
Dr. Paul’s campaign set a one day fund-raising record on December 16, 2007 by collecting over $6 million via an internet “moneybomb”. He has sparked a passionate grassroots’ effort that continues without fail, even though the mainstream media has marginalized his candidacy and erroneously written him off as out of the race. Dr. Paul is a humble, honest, politician (an oxymoron), who has The People’s best interest of freedom at heart.
For these reasons, as well as what his foreign policy ideals could mean for peace in the world, he deserves to be included in your list of the 100 most influential people.
Top of any list should be Ron Paul. He has been inspirational in getting people active about caring for our wonderful country. A true patriot that wants to bring America back to it’s roots and restore the Constitution to it’s rightful place. He is the only one of the candidates that has been consistent in his views and has a concrete plan to fix what is broken in our government.
RON PAUL should be at the top of the list by far.
miley cyrus!?!? good christian values?
is this a joke to my life?
she’s a ho. if anyone should be on this list as a good role model for young teens, it’s the jonas brothers.
ron paul you fukin idiots, mms is so god damn twisted now a days it makes me sick
from morocco , bruce springsteen shall be the first one ,a man who has 59 year still man on the top it’s no easy thx mr bruce springsteen R.I.P danny thank alot for ur music and ur wisdome boss
I am shocked by your list. You list as “Revolutionaries” John McCain, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and George W. Bush? Definition of a “Revolutionary”: “involving or causing a complete or dramatic change, a person who works for or engages in political revolution”.
None of the politicians on this list is a revolutionary. There is one man, though, that happens to have a best selling book by the title of Revolution, that does fit the definition; Ron Paul is the only American that should be on the list of Revolutionaries.
bruce springsteen deserve be the first
Rain!!!!!! he is the best!!!!
I think they be there for some reason, so don’t protest!
Rain we love you!!!!!!
Putin - № 1
obama № 2
They didn’t leave obama out.
Ron Paul should be included along with the rest of the presidential candidates.
George W. Bush - старый маразматик.
My pick is Ma Ying-jeou,the new President of Taiwan, appears in the lower right corner of the latest cover of Time 100.
Ma Ying-jeou could change Taiwan’s relationship with China in a way that can redraw the political map of East Asia.
The champion of the Constitution, Ron Paul! I am from congressional district TX-14, Ron Paul’s district. He has served me, my family, my friends, and America very well and we all back him steadfastly! This amazing man has touched the hearts and minds of anyone who would listen. I think he should be at or near the top of anyone’s list and needs a lifetime achievement award.
Hi. I am surprised you did not mention Pope Benedict XVI as one of the world’s most influential people since he represents more than 1 billion people in the worlds?
I wonder why you did not mention his name?
Claudio
To the people who made the list of the world’s most influential people: next time try to use your intelligence and a little bit of common sense.
J. K. Rowling. The Harry Potter series may be over, but she is still influencing people every single day. Because of her, there is a new genre of music called wizard rock. Dedicated fans continue to run fansites and produce amazing podcasts (Mugglecast!). Stephenie Meyer would probably not be on this list if it was not for Harry Potter fans looking for a new series to read.
Dimitris Christofias - President of Cyprus. He will instigate and preside over the re-unification of the island after 35 years of division.
Dalai Lama ,of course!you are the biggest troublemakers!
what you have done for tibet people?!?
NO NOTHING!
YOU should take look at the new map of tibet!
it is you matherlander!
can you tell your self:
which road was built by you?
do you know how many people sacrificed to buld this road????
can you bulid a train way from tibet to sichuan?????
you can not do it!
you can forgive yourself!
but we can’t forgive you!
——————–your chinese small brother!
Hu Jintao is the most influential leader in the world!
Ron Paul should have been on the list. Thanks.
I’m suprised you haven’t included Dr. Ron Paul to your list of revolutionaries. Seems to me he should top this list. Thank you.
Stephen Colbert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ron Paul is at the top of my list. Motivated voters and supporters, largest donations in one day, upholds his oath to the Constitution.
I am amazed you could include 3 of the same politicians (for taxes, for deficits, vote for funding Iraq war) - Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John McCain while not including Ron Paul.
You have again shown your liberal media bias.
Absolutely, Dr. Ron Paul! One only needs to consider the massive effort that was required to stymie the message of this courageous gentleman whose philosphy is simply peace, freedom and prosperity. How far have we fallen that these notions have been subject to ridicule? “Truth is treason in an empire of lies!”
Vladimir Putin
Dr. Ron Paul, of course! There is no more honest man in politics today than Dr. Know!
Pope Benedict XVI
Corzaon Aquino
All you people please get back to WORK!!!
Sonia Gandhi (naam hi kaafi hai) recently featured in the list of 100 most influential people listed by Time Magazine. Shashi Tharoor, who was once in the race of becoming the UN Secretary General has praised Sonia for all the good work (good leadership) she has provided and that she indeed is the right choice to be named in this elite list. Well I have nothing personal against Sonia ji (as fellow congress members call her) nor I have anything against Shashi but I really wonder if Sonia can be called leader or revolutionary, yet! Here is why I think so Times Magazine made a mistake:
Shashi writes – “The parliamentary leader who rejected the highest office in her adoptive land” - Can anyone list any five revolutionary decisions/acts taken by Sonia Gandhi that transformed the landscape of INDIA? She denied the offer for the top job, writes Shashi – but I think it was a clever tactics used to position her better and also prepare ground for her children in the politics. It wasn’t the inner-voice or anything like that- she was either not ready for the job (of the top post) or she cleverly played with Indian sentiment of denial. What is really revolutionary about her denial and is so heroic to make her feature in the list of Top revolutionaries in the country? Possibly what she has done is to weave the scattered and visionless congress party workers together and prevented the party from being torn into pieces of individual identities and false personas. Yes, she has done that and for that she was gifted with GANDHI label and an opportunity anyone used in a similar fashion. So is this revolutionary?
Shashi writes – “Italian Figure who became the most powerful women in the land of billion people” – If being revolutionary and powerful is all about being at the right place and at the right time, indeed Sonia Gandhi is the most powerful lady. However, I differ completely on this and rightly so. Sonia Gandhi was in the right place because she married to Rajiv Gandhi and thus inherited the position. She didn’t rise to this position of power. Power was bestowed upon her. Second – she rose to power when the iconic status of Indian National Congress was in tantrums. The party has lost its iconic status and sheen because even after ruling the country for more than 40 years, the state of the nation was nothing close to satisfactory. Corruption and nepotism was so strongly prevalent that national interest was always taken for a ride. It was at this nadir, when Sonia tried to put some Gandhian testosterone into the party that was otherwise suffering from erectile dysfunction. There was no one who could stand up on his/her own and every one wanted to hide off his or her corrupt faces into the persona of Ganhian effect. Had the sentiments not been low or the congress would have been doing well otherwise, there would have been no resurgence of Sonia. And by the way what is so revolutionary about it?
Shashi writes – “Woman of principle who demonstrated that one could stand for the right values even in a profession corroded by cynicism and cant” – What values are we talking about? Can anyone please enlighten us about them? So far I understand these are values only for talking and nothing else. Is promoting a controversial candidate for the position of first citizen the value we are referring to? Is making sure that ‘aam-aadmi’ always remains the aam aadmi the value we are referring to? Is rolling out hard earned taxpayers money for the so called benefit of farmers as a loan waiver the value we are talking about – when we know that it is purely electoral ploy and not going to benefit the farmers in real. What values is Shashi referring to? I don’t know. And again, is this revolutionary?
Shashi writes – “Novice in politics who became a master of the art” – indeed I agree with Shashi on this, but here also Gandhian effect has been the major driver then anything else. But is it revolutionary to label Sonia amongst the most powerful/influential/revolutionary people of the world? Don’t know for sure, but if this is revolutionary, then possibly every women in India is much more than her as she has to fight every day for her own rights and that too without the Gandhi label.
L N Mittal
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt should be, at least, numbers 4 and 5 respectivelement.
Hollywood is already biaised for not nominated Brad Pitt for all the movies he has been in lately (Babel, The assassination of Jessie James) and Angelina Jolie for Bewolf, A mighty heart, etcc..) The Time magazine should be fair and jst.
H.H THE DALAI LAMA coz he is a man of peace and has been promoting human values and religious harmony for the last 5 decades.
monkey king
Dalai Lama
Kobe Bryant, where is he?
Is a great president
Hu,jintao ,Chairman of this great nation!
Hu Jin-Tao!
His positive policy improve the life of 1.3 billion people in Cina!
Pope Benedict XVI is not included on the Time’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people. I think that he’s an important person for the world and the catholics.
I think that there are many american leader and politics that they only influyed on US; and They’re not important for the rest of the world. For example, a old mexican man does not meet Obama and he does not have interest on him.
In your poll Mike Huckabee was in the top 10, In your article he is not. Could you please explain the discrepancy? There are a lot of people upset over this apparent disregard for your online poll.
I am not surprised to see George Clooney on your list, as he was on your cover as the Last Movie Star. George has not done anything other than ride Brad and Angelina’s coat tails. He has gone to Darfur twice and received more press than Don Cheadle who went to Darfur, wrote a book, and produced a movie. Plus George only became involved at the urging of Brad and Angie. He couldn’t even answer questions at the press confrence he call on his return from his second trip. Angie goes to Iraq, and other countries, receives the Freedom of Honor Award and is elected to the CRS. And Brad along with his other humanitaran projects is helping to rebuild New Orleans. What has George done?
I would like to say that to my mind the most influential person in the world is who is loved by everybody, that is this person self.
probably Iran`s president Ahmadinejad,or Britney spears
Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador the Legitimate President of Mexico.
Come on , I have got two words for you, RON PAUL !!!!!!!!
DR MAHATHIR MOHAMAD THE BEST LEADER IN THE WORLD
Jens Stoltenberg and Terje Roed Larsen.
Dr Mahathir Mohamad
Daisaku Ikeda.
In addition, I have a request to you. I hope that you use this list to “define” what is “influence”, not simply to “reflect” one skewed view of what influence is. Sure, if we simply reflect a one-sided meaning of influence, the likes of Miley Cyrus would be on the list. But if you want to be a good journal not just an entertaining magazine, why not define it as something deeper, more thought-provoking and more contributive to humanity? Why not define it as “positive influence towards world peace or helping all human beings around the world live a better, more compassionate life”???
Dr Mahathir Mohamad the best leader we ever had, anwar is just like a restaurant manager only.
We Love Dr Mahathir Mohamad
We hate Anwar Ibrahim, he has ruin our country before and trying to do again now.
WE ONLY RECOGNIZE DR MAHATHIR MOHAMAD AS OUR GREATEST LEADER .
Lezra Martin
He may not be a movie star or a politician nor a businessman but what he did and he is doing is probably more influential and impressive than many others do: he talks to people’s hearts!
the greatest leader we had is Dr Mahathir Mohamad
Elton John
Ron Paul
Pope Benedict XVI
Stephanie meyer, Time magazine has underestimated her sway there are countless blogs and fansites devoted to twilight. The movie’s every step is being followed and somebody started a band devoted solely to twilight. Millions of girls worldwide, myself included can not stop thinking about twilight I have read each book at least eight times it’s an addiction, Stephanie meyer has
