Al Gore Wins Nobel Peace Prize
Where to start with world news?
Former Vice President Al Gore shares the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for raising awareness about climate change.

Should Canadian Inuit environmentalist Sheila Watt-Cloutier feel hard done by that she didn't win?
Russian President Vladimir Putin has told the U.S. he will not support its controversial missile defense system that is planned to be stationed in the Czech Republic. Putin lectured Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates saying, "One day you and I may decide that missile defence systems can be deployed on the Moon....but before we get there, the possibility of reaching an agreement may be lost because you will have implemented your own plans".

The Bush administration isn't getting any diplomatic joy from Turkey either. Ankara has recalled its ambassador in Washington and suggested that it may cut off vital U.S. military supplies lines to Iraq if the House of Representatives goes ahead with a bill recognizing 1915 massacres and forced deportations of Armenians as genocide.
China has surprised many observers by supporting a UN security council statement rebuking the Burma military junta.
Finally in world news, we know novelists like to get to immerse themselves in their subject but we can't help thinking that the Mexican writer of Cannibalistic Instincts took his research a little too seriously.
Iraq - U.S. Air Strike Kills 15 Civilians
The U.S. military killed 15 women and children yesterday during a bombing operation in which 19 suspected insurgents also died. A military spokesman said the U.S. regrets the deaths of any civilians but said, "these terrorists chose to deliberately place innocent Iraqi women and children in danger by their actions and presence."

As more details of how Blackwater USA contractors shot at Iraqi civilians even as they tried to escape a Baghdad firefight, the beleaguered company is being sued by some of the civilians in the U.S., and may be investigated by the UN for human rights violations.
Is Shi'ite support for the Mahdi Army eroding? Once Shi'ites saw the militia as their "only protector against Sunni militants. Now they resent it as a band of street thugs without ideology," says the New York Times.
Politics - CIA Investigates its Investigator
The term "poisonous office environment" probably doesn't begin to justice to the day-to-day life of the CIA if the news that the agency Director has launched an internal investigation of his own internal investigator is anything to go by. Director Michael Hayden is said to be concerned that Investigator General John L. Helgerson is not acting impartially but instead running a crusade against those involved in "controversial detention programs".
We've all heard how Al Gore has no interest in another run at the Presidency but the clever money has him outshining Barack Obama if he did enter the race. And that was before he won the Peace Prize.
New Hampshire is pretty upset that every other state wants to steal its first-mover presidential primary status and so is contemplating moving its election forward to December. Will this madness never end?
National - Cops Foil a Columbine
Police in Pennsylvania have arrested a 14-year old boy who they say was planning a "Columbine" type attack on Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. Acting on a tip from another student, police discovered a 9-millimeter assault rifle, dozens of authentic-looking BB and air guns, and seven hand grenades the student was making in his bedroom.
School officials in Cleveland are at a loss to explain how the suspended 14-year old student who shot and wounded four people at his school this week was able to evade an armed guard not to mention 26 security cameras.
Mychal Bell, the young student at the center of the Jena 6 protests has been ordered back to a juvenile detention facility for 18 months after a judge ruled he had violated his probation for earlier convictions. Bell was only "freed two weeks ago after his adult criminal conviction for beating a white classmate was overturned," writes CNN.
Still in Louisiana, New Orleans has unveiled the $216 million scaled-back plan for the first stage of the city's rebuilding efforts.
From the NYT: "Major makers of over-the-counter infant cough and cold medicines announced Thursday that they were withdrawing their products from the market for fear that they could be misused". There's goes any chance of peace and quiet on your next flight.
Celebrity - Lessing's Nobel Achievement
"To celebrate I'd have to go and buy champagne. I'm going to bed" - Nobel Prize for Literature winner 88-year old Doris Lessing, keeping her success in perspective.
Spanish actors Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem getting intertwined on the Maldives....somewhat undermining Cruz's denials of a relationship earlier this summer.
Mexican-American Director Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan are tying the knot....while Mexican singer Paulina Rubio is wrapping herself in the flag....naked. The Mexican government is not amused.

Oh, we almost forgot. Britney Spears has won won modified visitation rules "that allow her two boys to spend one overnight a week with her". Wonder which club she'll take them to?

Al Gore, congratulations on winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Now it is time to announce your wish to become America's president, take your seat in the White House, and be the leader we have all been waiting for to move beyond the corrupt system of Empire and towards Earth community. Kudos to the Nobel Committee for realizing that sustainability is peace.

Well, Gore-El finally did it. Unlike the original Jor-El of Superman fame who was ignored when he warned of impending planetary doom on Krypton, Gore-El (aka Gore-Al)is now guaranteed a large audience by winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts. Now lets see a picture of him on Time Magazine with a large "S" on his shirt, his hair slicked back, and the earth as a backdrop. That should sell some copies...

With the corrupt governement on both sides of the fence, Al Gore is no better. A man who promotes Greenpeace and down with Global warming keeps forgetting where and how he lives. Take a look at his mansion and how and what it runs off of and how he travels. Open your eyes, stop living in this fantasy world and realize he is no better than you and me everyday.
Are you people really that incompetant? Or, do you think everything should work perfectly all the time?

Can Time just go ahead and name Mr. Gore its Man of the Year now?

Whether you believe in the science of global warming or not, doesn't this strike anyone else as odd that Gore should be given a Nobel Peace Prize? I mean, what's he done really for peace in the world? He's produced a documentary and been talking about global warming, but that's hardly an issue of world peace per se.
Looking at the grand winners of Nobel Peace prizes in the past (Albert Schweitzer, Willy Brandt, Henry Kissinger, Mother Teresa, Lech Walesa, Nelson Mandela, etc.), I can help but feel that the prize has been cheapened and devalued by this most recent recipient -- particularly when you place Gore next to Mandela.

Al Gore, congratulation's for perpetrating a con of massive and likely historic proportions. We understand that you are reaping incredible wealth and power from the hoax and may not need the Presidency to feed your wallet or ego further at this time.
The soft, factual voices of meteorological science are slowly surfacing however, and your abetting "journalists" and media may not be able to keep the lid on them indefinitely. Additionally, there is evidence of a cadre of rational, thinking people in America that are resistant to media hype and spin.
It is time to focus the power and momentum of Global Warming hysteria on the electorate while you still maintain inertia and credibility. Act quickly, while they are still frightened and before more statements leak out by scientists not influenced by personal gain or intimidated by threats. Bless your unbalanced mind and power grubbing heart, this is a chance to for you to achieve by vote what you nearly stole in 2000.

Al Gore deserves our admiration. When no one listened, he kept on. when he was rediculized by the media and 50% of americans, he insisted on wearing green. Mr. Gore is a great and honorable man. He inspires and offers vision which most americans have lost but we are desperately seek to recaptured. Mr. Gore has giving me the opportunity to feel proud of being American again.
Thank you Mr. Gore. Keep up the good work. You are one of the few people I consider a hero.

The Polar bear picture wasn`t taken by Al Gore or his people for the claim he made that Polar bears were going to go extinct. The photo was taken by a marine biology student Amanda Byrd, two and a half years before Al Gore got it. The Photo of the Polar bear was taken during the summer when sea ice normally melts. The Polar bear was not that far from land, and was able to easily swim to the safety of land. The bear was in no eminent danger at the time. The photo was given to a friend of Amanda`s. Later it made it to the Canadian media. Later Al Gore got the bear photo and is using it to hoodwink you into dispair.
Now you want to make him president? You must like to be told lies. I just checked Upper Canadian weather this October 16. 2007. Eureka is presently minus 15 degrees F. at 11:00 am. Sea ice freezes at 28.5 F. A recent article just reported that the Artic is refreezing as of the middle of September and the Northwest passage is already closed on the Siberian side. Folks, things are more normal than Al Gore.
